While We Wait: Boredom Strikes Back

Rhetorical question.. also most of that is wrong.

What is a "bank"? Double entry accounting isn't even that big a thing yet. The closest analogy for the kind of institutions you lot are dealing with is something between a loan shark and a property trust.

A Bank is an institution that holds a reserve, saves money at an interest, and loans money at an interest. Banks conduct money from private citizens to other institutions that protect indivisuals within it called a Corporation through lending. It also pools money from any citizens to lend to other citizens via loans as well, for the citizen to use and to pay back. Banks let a small amount of saving be turned into quite a few crucial loads for quite a few other groups, which will increase wages, productivity, employees, branches or other factors, which will increase money available to citizens, who will buy more stuff or put it in the bank. And so on.

Thankyou captain obvious?

He asked a question, I answered it.

There is also the good old fashioned method of debasing the currency with copper or some nonsense like that and reducing the % of gold, and silver in the coinage. Leads to a nice amount of inflation. A favourite of a whole lot of people, Ottomans come to mind.

Cool, someone has their thinking cap on! That is a semi-viable means of manipulating inflation. Unfortunately its difficult to control and accordingly it has limited utility as a policy instrument. The best you could hope to achieve would be to inflate yourself out of debt. But the likelihood of error in terms of scale is very high and the resultant consequences of such an action should be severe. It would be relatively easy to demonetise your whole domestic economy for instance.

Large multinational banks have been around since the 6th century, they just didn't always call themselves that.

As a result, many Americans supported the creation of a National bank after the revolution to keep them away from the large banks of Europe. If you want to truly represent the banking side of diplomacy and economics, a NES with a focus on Europe and North America where players are banks would be a good idea.

The American Revolution was the political upheaval during the last half of the 18th century.. not the 6th

RPA has editted his post... it indicated the revolution was in the 6th...

This discussion is lame.

I wish there were more fresh starts.

Since when are you a cash-paying member of the Church of the SubGenius?

Anyone want to play a God NES/ King Nes mixture? I'll have 5 Gods and 10 Kings at a time (More or less than 10 kingdoms, obviously) The Kings are those who are given unique abilities get to be player controlled, as well as chart a path for future, ungifted kings. It is unknown what the "Gift" or "Gifts" would be.

As for Gods, it would be perma player controlled, but teh mod'll control what they can or can't do that will break the game, ect. (No pinching arteries of all the people in the enemy army marching toward your holy city, sorry, unless you are the god of blood or something) gods have limited strengh based on three things: Priest Followship, Worshipper Followship, and Action. Priest gives most power, but are the least. Worshippers are those who worship the god while following the priest. Actions are like this: You are god of war, a war occurs, you gain strength.

I dunno, been tossing this idea around lately. Don't have time for it tho.

God Neses are doomed to fail!

If there were no God NES', it would be necessary for nesers to keep trying to reinvent them.

Or something.

Sez who? It is like saying (insert nes type here) are doom to fail because none had updated over 2/3/5/10/20 turns or (insert prestigious mod here) never modded that kind of game.

God Neses are doomed to fail!

>: O I'll get it done...

Someday :'(

Also, all NESes before my last one are permanently dead. I actually planned on trying to update my last fresh start one, but the computer that all the stuff for it was on a computer that just got like everything wiped out on it.:/

Please provide proof for this tenuous assertion.

Not good enough.
