Personally, I think it's the "Disney Channel Original Movie" bit that takes the cake.

Also, Luckymoose, you should stop listening to wingnuts and start listening to the economists.

What the stock market did.

EDIT: As a note if you think the aggregate behavior of traders can be explained by who the next President is, then your sorely mistaken. Those reporters are at best, interviewing or talking to a handful of players, and from my experience everything they say should be taken with a dose of salt. The models and computers do the work.

One of these days, a president is going to slip up and say something like 'may god bless the Overmind'

Isn't the Overmind the unofficial title of the President of South Korea? I might've been misinformed, ofcourse. :p

Re: Orders thread

This thread should be stickied, its very useful.

Ah, tossi, if you could only be here now, to witness the belated triumph of your greatest project...:p

Why is Rhode Island a state? Its tiny! You guys need to start joining those states in the North east together.

I wonder how Obama will handle the missile shield issue.

On another note, I read the article in a Danish newspaper, and it was coloured Western with capital W. It was an incredibly one-sided view on the subject, and I simply hate that our free press uses energy to highlight the Russians as enemies. I know that Russia was recently an arch enemy of NATO, but get over it god damn it.

... And the whole issue on 'limited free speech' in Russia is to me idiotic. I have never seen a trustworthy example, not even an example at all, which showed me that Russians have no free speech. I guess that the view might be based on an eventual Western-centered reading of Russian articles, and seeing them curse over the Western countries, and then all us Westeners proclaim 'Oh mai, they ain't got no free speech, they say we be bad lolwut'.

At least, that's what I think of the subject without being presented a single article which could tell me that Russians are without a free press.

Show us commonsfolk some sources, damnit! It's not the whole population of Denmark that is simple-minded and swallow whatever they're presented by the media.

...

It felt good to rant a bit.

Given that the omnipresence of both liberal and communist opposition newspapers that pretty much define ridiculous partisan slating, I'd say that yes, yes we do have free press. Can't say I like it, though.

Judging from what I've read over the years, western newspapers seem to treat Putin as way more oppressive awesome than he actually is. :p

Well for me Putin is the prime example of man who can get things done.

That he can. It's just that he hasn't gone for a third term and is unlikely to pull a Porfirio Diaz either (though it is a given that he will remain an influence), contrary to all the people who have been claiming things like that since 2004 on the ground of their unquestionable knowledge of his psychology. That was pretty ********, as were his other supposed diabolical schemes.

Oh lordy, Masada has backed me up yet again what will the democrats ever do?
Not care, like always, because it's never been Democrats you've been arguing with. You might know that if you'd paid attention instead of just dismissing everyone who supported Obama as a partisan hack.

Personally I'm looking forward to how our trend toward energy independence will unshackle us from the Middle East (Carter's declaration of it as an area of "strategic interest" was motivated purely by Cold War politics and oil) and as we disentangle ourselves, someone else will step into the ensuing power vacuum--someone who needs energy very badly. In other words, China. All of our headaches will become theirs, and as they bleed the region for oil just as we did to sustain their industrialization, they will pollute their country still further until it suffers an environmental meltdown, at which point that good old Mandate of Heaven will kick in again despite all the Party's attempts to smash it away.

Meanwhile, we can cooperate with the Europeans on the issue to break the Russian stranglehold on natural gas. If China (demand) and Russia (supply) want to continue being hardliners the only option will be to band together further at which point the SCO will become co-dependent, or to play ball with Western tech. With this totalitarian crap finally out of the way, we can get on with doing something useful, like colonizing space.

Rebuilding America functions as the first shots in what is likely to be the final major ideological conflict (hot, cold, or unacknowledged) between powers on this planet. That Obama sold it to everyone as rainbows and sunshine is well and good, but it contains a keener blade than anything as stupid as "drill, baby, drill." Pax Americana is the key to a future for the human race that is not horribly dystopian--and that's why I supported Obama. All McCain wanted to do was run things down until they broke, not fix them; among all his other gaffes.

In a related topic, Fallout 3 is awesome, and you should buy it.

I'd need a new pc to play it an i have no money :(

Just as an aside to any 360 users, that version is pretty good. V.A.T.S. makes it a big enough difference from an FPS (and with toggle third person) that it isn't imperative to have a mouse--and you save yourself from memorizing a few dozen hotkeys. You don't get mods down the line, but if that isn't a huge deal to you, it feels pretty intuitive after a short while. It is $10 more though, but it's an option to consider if your system isn't that hot.
