Sorry Lucky, was afk on IRC earlier. Back now, more or less.
Oh and:
- The reason glumprongs were forbidden is because they're purple, evil, heavy, and iirc cold. Saving them for the Tower.
- I don't have a computer nearby, but I think I might've forgotten to stick a pressure reducer in the well's water supply.
- The current well design freezes in winter. That could easily be fixed by channeling instead of digging out the east-west tiles down there (wells work over any number of z levels). As long as dwarves don't drop anything in the well, I don't think that can cause any trouble.
Oh and:

XCOM Mission #1
We have a base in northern Scotland, codename Whiskey Bravo.
Detected and attacked a landed UFO, Spain:
Loaded up with explosive autocannons, because that's how we roll.
Lord Joakim was the first to gun down an alien.
Disenfrancised was wounded shortly after touchdown, we had to rush the mission because he was bleeding out and we didn't have any medikits yet.
BirdJaguar gunned down two sectoids after being severely wounded by plasma shots. He passed out towards the end, but we were able to save his life.
Lord Iggy bravely stormed the UFO along with Symphony D and Terrance888. Terrance was stunned by an alien (which also accidentally stunned itself and was captured), Iggy was gunned down on entering the central power room. Symphony D. avenged him.
Sadly we lost Lord_Iggy, Masada and Lord Joakim on this mission.
We need more recruits for the front line!

We lost das! Gunned down as we approached a shot-down UFO, southern England.
Terrance is on a killing spree, he avenged das, and was the first to enter the UFO once again.
Symphony D. wounded the last alien inside the UFO and it was captured alive.

If you're commenting on me: not sure if you're commenting on my attention whoring, or the fact I included you as an XCOM soldier ^^
EDIT: some fun in the Sudan. Crash retrieval. The first mission where nobody died. Kills for Crezth, Tuxedohamm, and BirdJaguar on this mission. Crezth multi-kill.
Explosive autocannons are probably not the best weapon for clearing UFOs at close quarters. But we managed.
BirdJaguar is fit and well, and has been promoted to our Captain (I wasn't aiming for that, but it seems fitting
). I made sure to give him the latest in personal armour using alien alloys. Next up, a terror site in China.

I was still enjoying the afterglow of birthing Unib, a beautiful dwarven girl, when a very drunk and angry Luckymoose crashed into my room. "My gods" I esclaim, ready to call my husband Stormbringer upon the eccenter Fort Planner of this slime-forsaken place.
"You're leader now. I can't deal with noob anymore" slurred Luckymoose, who then stumbled off for another one of my omelet roasts.
I used my free hand to close my gaping mouth. Me? Fortress planner?
First things first. Slaughter some kittens!
Of course, I've noticed an extreme scarcity of coffins. I order more. Many many more. Many will die under my reign.
IT WILL BE GLORIOUS!
I also ordered some beds. Not that there is much of a difference between a coffin and a bed.
Also, the tanner's shop infront of the Depot will be removed and placed behind the butcher's shop. I love the smell of tannic acid in the morning! Sometimes, when Milarqui the Tanner isn't watching, I place live kittens in the brew just to hear them scream!
That is when I realized: Luckymoose had ordered the butchery to be moved! I may be a legendary cook, but butchery is my first passion. I may be somewhat out of practice, but I quickly order the opening of a new refuse industry district, complete with a butchery, a tanner's shop, leatherworking, bonecrafting, and kitchen for fat rendering.
