I watched the LotR extended edition in full on New Years' Eve. Started at about noon, finished at 11:49 PM. Sadly, that didn't last until midnight. I didn't really do anything else.

I don't get the idea behind posting it, even if it's tongue in cheek (tongue in cheek in what way?). I think the fact that we are here, playing alternate history role playing games does qualify all of us as nerds, to a degree. At any rate I'm pretty sure that Joakim isn't a supermodel with his fingers on the f-keys. ;)

Don't remember what the "tongue-in-cheek" expression means (Dane is sorry!) and not sure what to make of that link. Is it an ironic statement that acts as if you
seriously say I don't categorize within the nerd category due to (honestly sad) nerds that take pride in that category, simply because I don't truly conform the the stereotype, having sex and girlfriends? That is, you're making a joke about true nerddom I don't get while sharing a link of a guy whom I want to punch? :)

I'm sorry, I'm very confused. I'm also very slow right now. And a little drunk.

Is he actually being serious or is he actually an intelligent, lucid and cogent master of satire and we've just been taken for a ride?

I was able to take him semi-seriously until he started raining fire and brimstone about how nerds were people who were so obsessed with a "craft" that they felt it necessary to forgo sleep, personal hygiene and social interaction. Apparently nerds = savants/the mentally ill.

Not that self-identifying as a nerd before all else is going to get you very far in life.
 
Perhaps Birdjaguar misread your use of 'he', thinking you were referring to a Civfanatic, rather than Maddox.

In my question I assumed that maddox was posting here in 2002 and you read those posts prior to joining. Yes, you could have been a lurker in 2002, but I assumed not. Now if you knew him from elsewhere in 2002, then I see your point.
 
Maddox is a blogger; I don't believe he has a CFC account.
