Update Three: Red Blossom

"A mountain snake will eat a rock if he cannot eat a fish."

-Wabisuke Kita

In the far north, massive sums of hard-earned peasant koku are spent, not on subsidized hovels or single-payer healthcare, but high explosives. The Kita build up a huge force of conscripted levies and professional troops in the mountains overlooking Iji City. It seems a massive and inevitable conflict is about to rock the island to its core. The Iji spend most of the season preparing to respond to this threat.

Western naval designs seem to have finally fallen into the hands of the Hoshijomata, as both the Ruki and the Haruto build fearsome cruisers with long-range, high caliber guns. Surely they will be put to use soon.

The Kaiju slowly expand on their newly conquered island, loading up a new boat of troops to warily eye the Uitake. Their small force, however, is dwarfed by the vast force of conscript riflemen that the Uitake Alliance has now dispatched in all directions. With the Kita and the Iji facing off in the far north, the Ruki and the Kaiju locked in an undeclared cold war, and further trouble in the far south, will all of central Akiyama fall to the Uitake without a fight?

The far south spills into blood with a SURPRISE ATTACK by the Haruto on Daiftu-Go. A small company of riflemen held the docks, which were brimming with construction for a planned new port and railroad. The Haruto gatling gun ripped the unprepared Saijan-Ryo infantry to shreds and occupied the city.

Dafitu-Go falls! The half-constructed railroad and port are destroyed, though some of the resources are recovered by the incensed Daimyo of the Saijan-Ryo. Truly, the southern seas will now be stained red with blood.

Random Event - The massive conscription of peasants for the huge Uitake army has placed a strain on local resources. Farmers request a $4 subsidy to hire extra laborers for the fields. Will you pay?

Ruki - 11$ (+$4 banked)
Kita - 11$
Kaiju - 14$
Iji - 17$
Uitake - 16$
Haruto - 15$
Saijan-Ryo - 12$ (+$6 banked)

---

Iggy, please note your troops have been moved to the overlay. Also, I think that i in Sentai is a mislabeled Rifleman unless you have evidence to the contrary. Will correct. [EDIT: I also forgot to leave ownership markers on your two southernmost provinces. Sorry! Your income is updated accordingly.]

Daft, I apologize for your incredibly poor luck in losing the province where you had invested all that cash. As per the rules, you receive 50% back, rounded down.

---

A note for all players: As you know (or don't,) combat occurs in rounds, with attacker and defender rolling simultaneously to hit, and casualties removed before carrying on. There is no targeting mechanism however; I remove units according to owner preference. Usually this means that cheaper units die before more expensive ones. However, if you wish me to prioritize certain types of casualties over others (Gunboats die before loaded Junks, etc.) please feel free to let me know in your orders. If not, I'll just do what I think makes the most sense for you.

Really? Was it that much of a surprise?

Oh Daftu-chan, you silly baka.

When do you need orders by thlayli?

Grandkhan: do not flatter yourself. We simply had not deigned to pay any attention to you.

Saijan-Ryo Orders: commit ritual suicide while on fire. A new Daimyo will lead us to vengeance.

Spoiler Thlayli only :
All available forces suicide attack to regain the capitol, or at least soften the occupation force. Junk should keep out of range, heading to the coast of the northern mountains.

Recruit 2x Riflemen in all surrounding provinces. (6)
Recruit 1x Gatling Gun in the mountains (6+5 = 11)
Recruit 1x Airship if we are able to use our savings to do so (7+11 = 18)

Question: can we conduct strategic bombing operations?

Hey Daft: wondering if you want to update NESCraft this weekend, or later. I'll likely be gone until Sunday/Monday is why, but I don't particularly feel like writing up orders today either :p.

@qoou I will start parts of it with the early orders, but I guess will be at least a week before I get most orders - probably update next weekend? Your orders have been very detailed and character building, despite you not having much to go on. So don't worry about sending some brief ones this time :)

Would just like to advertise the NESLifeV bump, if anyone is interested in playing an evolution game!

Its a non-committal type of game, where you create an evolution and I add it to the world in the update (if it survives). Then you can create another evolution.

Yes, I'd like to do this alongside NESCraft. Lord_Iggy's stat system makes it much easier to update the species stats, and pixel art for the species pictures is not very difficult either.
