While We Wait: Writer's Block & Other Lame Excuses

I, for one, am very happy to see NESLife V updated! Hopefully I can get one of my own NES projects going at some point too. :)

Well, I'm in the final year of my undergrad, I'm doing directed studies and volunteering in a lab, I teach piano and I try to sleep for at least one third of every day. I probably could get my updates going, but I'm not sure if I'd be able to keep them coming consistently. Thus, I tend to put my recreational time into things which require less steady time commitments.

So my life's not necessarily too hectic, I just don't think that I'm currently in a good position, with regards to my time commitments, to take on a full-sized NES project. However, I could conceivably do NESLife VI or my KaijuNES idea or something of the sort. That probably relies more on me exercising self-control and using good time management skills, and I confess to not being terribly great at those things.

Well my NESLifeV revival seems to have been a big flop - counting on you, Iggy! ;)

A big flop? Sir, I've been traveling and doing exams and papers ever since you've updated! :p I've hardly had a chance to post my next evolution!

I may be over-reacting :) I mean't, your LifeNES had a strong following as I recall. Regular updates no doubt helped :)

I'm actually super excited, Daft, I just haven't had much in the way of free time to catch up with the world over the work week. =)

@ Daft, I'll be reserving an entire hour tomorrow to weigh my options, study the species, and come up with awesomeness.

So where's our SimCity fanboy? We're so close to a full set. We'll get XP on Steam for collecting'em all.

Preparing to start some kind of #NES roleplaying/dnd. All I know is I will run sessions every week/every two weeks, at an extremely consistent 2 hours every sunday night scheduled, with promise of a full year +epilogue's worth of sessions.

There's several ways I can do this.

1) Limited AKA classic. I'll get submissions and pick the 5-6 which are the best/fit together the most. Generally 4 minimum for a game. If we do this, I will consider adding (probably personal) narrative to fit the party.
2) High Limit: I'll let up to 10 players sign up, with more allowed to join as time goes on. Balance of two types, with a more general narrative.
3) No Limit: Guild of Adventurers-esque, with teams of adventurers of literally infinity. Expect Level 1's bumping shoulders with higher level characters as time goes on. There will be rules to keep sessions manageable. Relatively little plot and explanation.

System? I don't know, suggest one! I'm willing to learn, as long as it is open source online.
Setting? I don't know, suggest one! I'm thinking now of a very tongue in cheek fantasy world.

However, I do know is that I WILL start this, and I WILL run the sessions, so help me.

Will post in New NESes, While We Wait.

I suggest the No Limit with giving some kind of bonus to the 5 best submissions.

I'll join either of those. I'll do something nonannoying this time. As much as I liked our little quirks last time, I felt I filled up way too much space. Should've been killed off or somesuch.

4e is slow and doesn't work well for a 2 hour session. I'd suggest something more rules light. Maybe Rules Cyclopedia.

#3 seems very controversial. I guess it should. Personally I'm leaning towards #2 simply because I know not everyone can make it every/every other Sunday, and it is easier to accommodate slightly more players like 6-7 than try to run for 2-3.

Still undecided on what system to use. Going to use ROLL20 as videochat/dice rolling, although the combat grid feels a bit finicky to me.

As for system, some suggested FATE, others suggested basic DND clones. Still undecided.

I STILL NEED TO PICK A SYSTEM.
I STILL NEED TO PICK A SETTING.
I STILL NEED TO PICK A PLAYER LIMIT

some suggested FATE

Ah, nostalgia...
