While We Wait: Writer's Block & Other Lame Excuses

So, you like the front page being chocked up with troll threads?

How do you expect moderators to react when they see this?

You're peeing in your own drinking bowl, so whatever.

Dude, I already told you, I have a contingency plan. WaitNES is a flawless idea. I know the front page - normally vibrant and full of energy and life - is throttled wholly by this wave of insidious trolling, but trust me, once all the WWW threads are purged, WaitNES will restore this community to its former glory, and expel the IOT Untermenschen who are stealing our glorious Lebensraum with their Dolchstossglende troll threads!

inb4 OwenGlyndwr has a conniption fit.

Look guy just because baseball game preview has been up for 1 year and 4 days you don't have to be such a hater.

Jesus Christ, I just realized that Chris Roberts is a paragon of productivity in comparison to this place, and I don't even care about Star Citizen. I take it back, hate yourselves.

Timestamps indicate Crezth posted the first thread (), followed by Thlayli (I expected better), and <nuke> (who really should know better too). That's what bugs me.

I mean, remember when we had to argue for the existence of just one WWW thread? Now we're advertising for some heavy-handed moderation that some of us secretly seem to crave.

I'm sorry I posted my 'nice' thead, ok? But I posted with genuine meaning and it had some positive effect. I like to think the same of all the threads I started here.

For a libertarian, you sure are taking a "hey man if the unreasonable authorities curtail your privileges maybe you shouldn't have pulled their tail" line of argumentation.

My point is it wouldn't be unreasonable in this case. Those threads are purely for trolling and wasting space. We now have clutter getting in the way of actual content on the forum. That should annoy everybody.

There are not enough active threads in this forum to spill off my 800 pixel monitor, let alone invade a second page. Since not even my scroll wheel suffers from browsing NES, I very much doubt this "clutter" is all its cracked up to be.

Crezth you are not assessing the value of this forum properly this place is like Fort Knox there are good world-changing ideas everywhere and all this trollish clutter is impeding their free flow and development the Feng Shui man the Feng Shui

Crezth and Symphony, advocating for spam and trolling 'because the forum is dead anyway', sweet!

At least I'm not getting hysterical because some people went to a website and clicked a "Post Thread" button.

No, I don't care what Crezth does. I'm not in the business of policing him, or anyone else. And neither are you.

I just think it's funny that you believe there's value to all this that's worth protecting.

Describe it for me in dollars. I'm of the understanding that everything can be presented as having monetary value.

I'm re-linking this because it's the best laugh I've had in months. Language warning and stuff.

Moderator Action: <snip>

While extremely creative and actually quite well done, I can't allow the video to be posted here because it violates the language rules of the site.

Please read the forum rules: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=422889

You crazy idiots are going to get us all shut down.

Yes, my 'nice edition' thread was itself questionable, as I freely admitted, but it was a reaction to genuine dark moment on this thread. It had a genuine motive. It did get certain people posting again. And it is threatening to act as an organisational thread for multiple D&D campaigns. I feel it was retroactively validated.

The rest of you are just outright trolling, crazily so. I don't know what you are thinking to be honest. Its a huge middle finger to any moderator who happens to scan the list of active threads.

Moderator Action: I must say I am very disappointed in you guys right now. On the one hand you claim that you don't need any moderation, yet when you are given a lot of leeway and very loose supervision this is the kind of thing that happens. I have been very hands off in moderating this forum. Please don't make me change my mind.

I am not closing this thread as I do see a valid reason for keeping it, but don't test my patience. If you have a problem with specific posts or things getting out of control, please use the report function. That is the best way to bring things to my attention, and if I am not available other mods can step in as needed.

Show me that you can be a mature community and I will treat you as such. Reckless stunts like this do the opposite and will cause a lot more scrutiny and much less of your coveted freedom.

I think that the thread started by Daft was of genuine meaning. I was fed up with coming into WWW and seeing four new pages of heated arguments, it just tires me out to see them. If the thread is in the middle of one of those long winded disputes, kind and relaxing posts often get drowned in all the fighting. It might not be a bad idea to have one thread for those that want to argue, and one for all of those interested in what WWW was originally about. Yeah as of late the "Nice Edition" has become more of a DnD thread, but that just happened to be the topic at the time. Topics come and go all the time in conversation, so it should be normal for the thread.

While it may not say anything good about the community, the Nice Thread was genuinely useful. When people would start acting up here (which they would regularly, and which I don't think many people would be eager to report on, realistically speaking), the rest of us (and some of the same people in the thread) could have civil and in some ways constructive conversations in the other thread. I know it doesn't look too good when written out like this, but I insist that it was of real value.

Still, you're the boss.

I propose this thread is somewhat similar to the situation in the Gaza strip which we were arguing about... Endless bombing and rocket fire overhead. Innocent people attempt to flee the fighting, but they have nowhere to go...

Peace needs more than a UN-brokered ceasefire, it needs a change of heart on both sides, and yes, a two-state solution!

Nice thread will only work under heavy moderation since, as daft said, it took 12 posts to get into the "not nice" area.

Peace needs a military occupation by a disinterested external power. I nominate Japan if it finally gets around to rearming.

You might say that such an occupation, whoever is entrusted with it, would represent the mods, certainly much better than it would the UN.

Wasn't the entire purpose of this thread series to cut down on off topic posting in game threads? Yes, it was. It wasn't made for socialization. It was made simply to have a place to vent to keep it out of games. That's it. Realistically speaking, you've already gone very, very far beyond the original boundaries set for you. You were given an inch, and you took a mile. You've gone so far that now practically none of the games are played at all anyway.

Why are you entitled to a thread at all? You have the whole rest of the forum that you could slot your "constructive conversations" into. You have a chatroom. You have walls. You have PMs. You have third party messenger services. What makes you all so special anyways? What makes you entitled to anything?
