Back in my day, we didn't have PMs. Let alone text as a medium. We had to communicate using watercolor shades - and computers only had four shades of green back then (if you count black and off-black as shades of green).

I'm afraid I'd not know where to start. Well, actually, you probably start with an idea and a plan, but I know nothing of the practical work you'd need to do. I'm sure there's loads of information online though.

Nice, I remember back when we had a mere 200 PM's, and that would stifle you if you hadn't cleaned out your box in a long time, or you were just lazy like I am/was.

A VILE FORCE OF DARKNESS HAVE ARRIVED!
I have ordere date bridge to be raised and hatches to be blocked. So far, 10 pikemen have arrive.d Stormbringer is leading his troop of wrestlers (with some weapons scattered here and there) to the stairwell in case they get through
With no way in, they wander in the slime of the southern marches.
20th Galena
16 of them have crossed the river.
The goblins chase Degel, who was gathering wood. He did not return in time, but did give our crossbowdarves some practice. Hopefully his death won't cause problems… Meanwhile, four goblins were felled by our squad of marks dwarves.
I dropped oour bridge to lure them within range, but suddenly tycho ran out just before it was closed again.
The entire fort is running outside! The bridge is closing, what can I do?
I send my troops outside

The Goblins have fled. I claim their equipment. Just in time I cancel the raising of the bridge. Four pikemen are dead.
Tycho, Militia Captain of the Marksdwarves of the Closed Towers, took joy in slaughter that day.

SPRING HAS ARRIVED
I'm baroness, so what I say goes! And I say I'm tired of bossing people around. I want to watch dwarves die in hilarious ways without wondering if Urist McNearlyInsane will snap or not.
I'll find someone to hand it off to, as my first proclamation as Baroness.
Now, how do I upload this thing?
Notes: I expanded the industrial rooms, we are near Max Bedroom capacity.
I have ordered lots of coal for a metal industry. They want Bucklers, Shields and Goblets the most.
We have a LOAD of gems and precious metals like Gold and Galena (Silver+Lead). We just lack fuel.
During winter I took advantage of a break in the sludge to start clear-chopping the map. It will grow back anyways, logs don't rot, and it is Dorfy to show our elfish traders acre after acres of mutilated, unused logs!
By the way, I think I accidentally atom-smashed the human caravan. Oops.

Also, Starlife, I tried the game a few days ago with sincere unsuccess. I assigned jobs for all my dwarves but when I needed something new done, they wouldn't change jobs and do it, so I had all my dwarves idling. /abandonfortress.
There must be some way to clear jobs from dwarves.
