While We Wait: Writer's Block & Other Lame Excuses

So will this mean that the topic of a IOT Anschluss can be brought up again? From what it sounds like most of the opponents of that are leaving to self-imposed exile.
Can't say I'm for it... Why can't IOT be united into this forum?

That's what I mean, we Anschluss them, merge into the Greater Forum Games Empire.

I believe CFC will always be geared towards being a family-friendly, no-controversy platform for promoting Civ games and the modding community. That's absolutely fine and it makes sense... I hope to still be around CFC for a long time.

But sadly I don't believe there isn't any real incentive to accommodate the eccentricities of our creative, inquisitive and oft-controversial NESing community. Ultimately we DO break the rules in our pursuits, I don't think anyone can deny that.

I'm now 31 years old. A lot of us are adults. We've had a good run, but we've outgrown the boundaries set to police a forum of teen civ gamers, and I think some of us really feel its time to move on, including myself.

I was dead set against moving for a long time, but now I think its the healthiest thing. Grinding against the gears here will do nobody any good.

I'll (hopefully) stay part of CFC for Civ-related topics, and I'll (hopefully) still be on this forum for as long as it exists. But the core of what NES used to be, and my main contribution to it, will now take place elsewhere, and I'm excited about that :)

To all those who leave:

It was fun playing with all of you, and arguing with some of you about all. Please don't threaten my home as you leave.

I'm shifting focus, but I hope to maintain my presence here.

Maybe its just the passing of the old guard, either way I wish nothing but blessings upon CFC NES. Long may it continue!

Otherwise, this forum will likely be dead within months.

That sounds like a threat to me. If it isn't a threat to try and get to moderators to do what they want, then my mistake.

Daft, I may join more forums, I have joined many forums since I joined CFC. But I will never leave this one. This is literally my second longest home, and third in importance. This is where NESing was born, and if NESing will ever die out, it will most likely be here, and by taking me out by force. Enjoy your focus shifting...

I'd stay here all the time for sentimental reasons if it was as simple as that!

If "If (demand) Otherwise (outcome)" isn't a threat, then excuse me, English isn't my first language.

Thlayli is firmly against a move. His post is not a threat; it's a fear.

Sadly, we are past the point where it matters.

Such a shame, too, I just got to post 18,000

Personally, my understanding could be taken as a threat, but could be taken otherwise. In this case, it is a form of threat, but not a personal threat directed against anything; it's basically the same as saying "if the asteroid continues on it's current path, the world will be doomed!". Sure, he expressed an opinion on what could reverse it, but not as a threat; the nature of the problem are people, and people could fix it. That part could a construed as a vague pseudo-threat, but I don't feel that was really the intent. Maybe as a veiled insult, but not a real threat.

What he said was, quite simply, that he feels that current patterns will likely render this forum section unusable within a limited span.

So a demand of a group of people followed by an outcome isn't a threat? OK. That's good to know.

It didn't pass any point. It never did matter. Anyone who ever wished so could always leave whenever he wanted and start a NES somewhere else. No one is holding anyone at a gunpoint here. You guys want a forum where you can write dirty words, insult each other, and deny people from playing? Feel free to find such a forum. I hope the moderators of this one will never, ever, change their mind on these rules.

Also a person who is "firmly against a move" who does the move, apparently isn't against moving.

erez, congrats on 13K posts :)

I think that's the point though. Not to get drawn into an illegal conversation of moderator rules, they exist here and I accept them. But I do want to express myself more freely, along with many others I've known for years and consider friends, without being afraid of controversy.

EDIT: Its about personal responsibility for what I post, and how I respond to what other people post. I recognise its not appropriate for all of CFC to operate that way, when its trying to attract often young and immature civ gamers.

Umm, not always?

Anyway I don't plan to go anyway right now, and will certainly be staying barring extreme events (such as an overly dramatic reprisal against the current discussion and it's participants.). Anyone planning do anything to prove anything should seriously reconsider, since that sort of talk was what led to the current events. Plus, it's just mean.

lol, thanks. I never did care about post count :p

Yes, I know you aren't breaking any rules. Good luck with your new forums ;) and I don't buy into the "this forum wants young people". I think the rules here are great for adults as well. I'm 27, and I don't feel the rules of these forums have ever been problematic to me.

Darksaber: Some people have already posted obvious complaints about moderator actions in this discussion. Why would a moderator not punish people for breaking forum rules? I don't think talking about another forum (we did it before, albeit for other reasons) is breaking the rules, but talking about how "terrible" the moderators here are is. Which has already been done here. I hope that post will be the first and last, and that it will be removed quickly. (thanks!)
