Who do you think is better: Radiohead or Coldplay

I admit to liking Coldplay, but I don't think they could hold a candle to Radiohead. So, I think Radiohead is better.

Radiohead is a band one is told to like, Coldplay is a band one is told to hate. Honestly I'm not a fan of either. They're both pretty dreary.

I think Radiohead shade it though, by virtue of not having done a song with Rihanna.

EDIT: I'm regretting the poll option I chose. Radiohead don't suck, it would be silly to say that they suck. I'm just not a fan of theirs.

Unless this is a trick question, maybe along the lines of "which is better at doing what they do?" (Coldplay performing pretentious, generic, boring crap while Radiohead performing engaging, clever, humorous excellence) in which case it is pretty close, I'll vote Radiohead.

I don't get Radiohead. Doesn't appeal to me at all. Not enjoyable to listen to.

I can understand some of the criticism of Coldplay as being simplistic and generic, but it's not like their songs are actually bad. I know it's suitably hipster-ish to hate on them, but I don't get how it can be contended that their music is actually awful, so much as just not-that-great and over-hyped. Given I think Radiohead has those same two problems, but actually is not enjoyable to an degree to listen to, it'd be hard not to vote Coldplay here.

I figured I'd go the hipster double. Hating Coldplay AND not voting in polls.

One thing though, I'm a firm believer that it's important to be open minded in regards to groups you "hate". By that, I mean don't throw the baby out with the bath water and adopt the "It's Coldplay therefore it sucks" mentality. Gems from disliked bands can be satisfying to find

So I'm gonna throw in a for Clocks and even moreso for The Scientist. The latter has a brilliant video (though not as good as the clip for Karma Police)

Nickleback actually have a whole raft of well constructed, well produced and played pop songs. But the problem is that, well, they're just so Nicklebackish.

I don't like Radiohead as much as I used to, but I have never really liked Coldplay, so I vote Radiohead.

Does Coldplay really garner attract that much hate? I'll admit, I only know three of their songs, and with the exception of "Viva La Vida" (which I am convinced was made for Civ) I don't really pay much attention to the lyrics. The instrumental melodies sound nice enough.

The only song that I know of from Coldplay is Viva la Vida. I was only heard about the the original song after listening to a parody for a minecraft video: "Fallen Kingdom" - A Minecraft Parody of Coldplay's Viva la Vida.

IIRC, "Viva la Vida" is Spanish for "Long Live Life". Likely it was just simply coincidence.
