Why so many bleeding-hearts?

Mouthwash has earned my respect for starting a thread that has trollish qualities even before GW comes and hijacks it.

So does this mean I should give up any hope that American libertarians will start caring about liberty? :(

I didn't say American libertarians. I said Libertarians. Although I sort of lied. You don't have to support the South to be libertarian. You cannot, however, support the Presidency of Abraham Lincoln without being anything but either ignorant or massively authoritarian.

Why do the majority of people here seem to consist of moderate to extreme leftists? Is it affected by the nationality or region from where they come?

What do you mean by extreme leftists? I haven't seen many people around here advocating for the government to redistibute wealth in exactly equal portions to everyone, or the total abolition of private property, or laws forcing everyone to wear diapers and cover themselves head-to-toe in protective bubblewrap.

Libertarians always support the South.

I'm a libertarian, I don't support the south.

So you're wrong.

What does "supporting" the presidency of someone who's long dead even mean? It's like "supporting" Queen Victoria or Alexander the Great.

I'm just asking. The proportion of leftists here compared to other forums I've been on is quite high.

Our community has an abnormally large autistic membership, for reasons that have been discussed at large length I'm sure. There are the obvious connections to turn-based gaming, but let's not get bogged down in the details...

The facts are that autistic people for the most part tend to vote left. There has been a gathering pool of people who tend to think that autistic people meet and plan. What do they plan for? Who knows.. but can it be good? With no oversight it is just impossible to know.

It could just be that there is an unbalanced bracket on some monument somewhere in Japan, and it has been decided by the autistic community that the best way to fix that would be to bankrupt America morally and financially by instilling communist and socialist ideals in American society. This would lead to a diplomatic crisis in Mongolia, American conflict with Japan, and of course the use of nuclear weapons, which would then trigger a letter writing campaign to the Chinese Prime Minister, who at that point should according to calculations be in some sort of control of parts of Japan.

Either way it's all very complicated, and that's just ONE of the many potential scenarios unfolding here before us.

Why is everyone else not crazy like me?

): ): ): ): ): ): ):

GUISE.

THIS IS SRS.

You seem perplexed. Why? Assuming your observation is correct, then 51% or more of posters sit somewhere within a band comprising roughly 40% of the political spectrum. That's hardly a mathematical oddity.

And how does any of this pertain to bleeding hearts? I'd assume a savvy observer of political trends such as yourself wouldn't be sucked in to equating leftism with bleeding heartism.

Yeah aren't lefties supposed to be driven by hatred, envy, anger, greed, and laziness, not compassion?

What is the opposite of "bleeding heart"?

"bad, bitter, cruel, inconsiderate, mean, unfriendly, ungenerous, unkind"

You aren't a libertarian.

And you just admitted the south fought for slavery.

I've already admitted this was their primary reason for secession. The North, however, fought for bloody conquest.
No the old avatar makes sense.

Last time I used Lincoln I put "Tyrant" as my user title;)

You aren't a libertarian.

Indeed, Zelig needs to realize real libertarians oppose the state, except when it is a slave state, because reasons.

Actually somewhat true, they didn't fight for slavery or for conquest:p

Except for Oregon and California, who together with future Washington (a Union territory) comprise the West. They helped plenty in suppressing the insurrection.

I've already admitted this was their primary reason for secession. The North, however, fought for bloody conquest.

No, they fought to preserve the Union. Like Lincoln said constantly. On account of it was his job.

I'm not quite sure what you base this on, but if demographics are any indication it may be an age thing.

(On the other hand, what you refer to as bleeding-heartedness may just be common decency - or civility, if that means anything to you.)

Dommy was eventually going to work his way into the No True Scotsman fallacy, I'm surprised it took him this long.
