The CPAC drew the line not at equating transgender people with sociopaths, or orchestrating racist abuse at a comedian; but of an edgelord comment made in poor taste that appeared to intentionally blur the lines and take advantage of the differences between UK and US age of consent. TBH, it's not that surprising since this took place in a society where the majority of people openly advocate for executing anyone with a sexual attraction to children, or at the very least forced castration through whatever means necessary. Couple that with the new modern tendency to cling onto a specific rhetoric and build an entire perspective around it and you've got a scenario where Milo losing his book deal and his contract with Breitbart is considered merciful.

Actually i am (pleasantly) surprised that there was this kind of backlash, though i don't doubt most of it was for not so good reasons. Anyway, career trolls losing their career is a good development, but if it stops with Milo it will be pretty pointless.
If it actually would lead to other main career trolls (both "right" and "left") diminishing in presence, it would be a good start.

Pedophilia is the exclusive sexual attraction to children. If someone is only attracted to teenagers it's called ephebophilia. Might be legal in countries where the age of consent is 14, but such a relationship is stil not considered socially acceptable in the West. Something that's technically legal can still be creeepy.

I can't say "they exhausted every option," because that goes into 'can't prove a negative' territory. But I think it can be safely said that they attempted enough nonviolent options to to satisfy what would be expected of due diligence.

And that justifies violence? For something like not wanting someone to speak on your campus, I'd say if exhausting every peaceful option doesn't work, then you drop the issue. Milo being scheduled to speak at UC Berkeley was not something in which violent resistance was justified or necessary.

It's almost as though Milo's popularity with the hard right was never about free speech so much as it was about racist and sexist trolling.

I have been really surprised how such a blatant troll got so much space in the media.
It was clear that it was all a "game" to attract views with outrageous speeches... and all the media followed the click-bait bait.

I was really annoyed by my leftist friends who were posting non-stop links to more controversy regarding this guy: by doing so they were increasing the click-value of any news reporting it, thus making him more valuable for the media.

Hopefully now he will get under his bridge again
