Zack Mafia IV: Birthday Bash [GAME THREAD]

Re: Horsemen, so close. You guys played a good game (of course the silencing sucked), and almost won it. In regards to scum play (I can't really suggest anything for Martin), I could offer a few tips based off what I saw in this game if you guys want. I'm not exactly great at this game, but I like to think I can offer some hints for the next time you guys are scum if you want.

We felt like we had to use every weapon in our arsenal even if it pissed people off.

I would like some tips, I am nowhere near as good at this game as you are. :) How could have we improved?

I am truely amazed I survived as long as I did. I basicly had a sign over me saying I AM SCUM for much of the game. Good job in the end game for the town, especially dead towniess such as Mergle and JoanK. In my opinion your participation won the game for you. We were doing fairly well despite our blunders until we suddenly imploded, but I did inadvertantly take pestilence with me to the grave (since he protected me from lynch). I think this game was well balanced, mostly due to equal misinformaiton and paranoia for everyone. I just realized that if pestilence had been a self aware role, he would have easily won, but as it was he had little enough info to make him ballanced. The magicians role seems strange. It looks to me like its primary advantage would have been hiding for one night, but he seems to have been negative utility to the town, since it would have caused more confusion. Great game, looking foreward to the sequal!:goodjob:

Great game. Also, note how Awards are important! From the bottom of the Hey, you won! class to tied in 6th position overall in the Kicked ass, got names class!

Awards were one of the reasons I was active while dead at the beginning. Then it was victory, of course. :)

Woohoo, third in score :trophy3rd: and second for the Town MVP

I would also like some tips Visor. I won't say that I was confused at the end, but I was definately unsure, this being the farthest that I've gone in a mafia game in this type of role.

Assig on to that, my streak of non-town roles in large games continues. I have never been town. I hope that streak continues. :D

@spaceman- I had been riding your lynch for days, so Ninja was trying to
distance himself from me. We were saying in the QT that the worst thing that could happen for us would you being scum. And you were, so that really sunk us.

MVP of the winning team  ! It was a real team effort from the town there, once we lynched spaceman we never looked back. I had an absolute blast, and loved the way this game kept us on the edge of our seats right to the end.

You were incredible in this game. At the end there, my gut said you were a horseman, but my head kept following the false trail you'd so carefully laid down and kept me unsure. Next game, I'm voting for you day 1 - just can't risk you being mafia again!

I don't think you will on the very next game- Buddhafish is hosting.

The question is not whether he is hosting or not, but if he'll be a player or not. ;)

Read the rules.
I do nicht unterstand.
Paranoia setups (ala this) are usually against the town (all things being equal). Because the resurrected players are of course not going to be trusted, neither is anything else. That said, I thought this game was going to end up being mostly a mafia deathmatch by the end, and town's eventual resurgence was uplifting, so to speak. It's been a while since I have seen something similar (the ocean was closeish, just too late), and seeing the dead townies (notably JoanK and Mergle and later TBK) actively participate to push the town on to victory was a nice change. The game turned out much better then I thought it was going to end up like, and without people such as the above, it never would've been such a good game. The setup was quite interesting (Masons are actually quite powerful, the longer they survive, so Xeno's scan was actually useful in the end). I'd also like to give a thumbs up to JHT for being a good Zack.

The award system is quite nifty, though and is some kind of recognition for good participation. Stairway to Heaven 2 sounds interesting, and I'll have to see where I'm at before I join it, but I did enjoy the last one.

Re: Nazis, you guys did a pretty good job staying under the radar (except Spaceman was really scummy, which he always is, :p) a bit unfortunate near the end there, where you got smashed, but you did well in the early half.

Re: Zack. It was a crazy game, but a good one, much better then anticipated by everyone I think. Thanks for hosting it.

Clearly, you'ff never played Zack mafia before.

I haven't either, and I won!

Also, why has the Askthepizzaguy Award, former Takhisis Award, been renamed Takhisis Award again?

Takhisis is a vile spammer. The award theoretically goes to the player with most non-spam posts. Ergo your name is not appropriate for it. :p

No. I post a lot. Not the same. I also spamalot.

Re: NC

You came across as 'fake', not townie NinjaCow. Mainly it was the way you kept going back to 'scummy' candidates and voting classical hero. It was 'easy' voting. You could probably attribute that to a lot of players, but the way you were playing didn't match up to anything you do as townie. (You played similar to Fallout mafia, only people listened this time to what I and others had to say). It will generally take time to learn to blend the styles, without being overly obvious through careful observation. I am still not great at it.

Re: Buddha

I can't really talk about the earlier stage of the game, as I can't remember that much of it, but in the later stages of the game (particularly the last day where you voted for classical hero), you used 'easy' reasoning. Voting for a lurker without a good (often text wally) explanation is usually a sign of mafia (at that stage in the game). With so little sad, and a bandwagon jumped on, you were sticking yourself out there. At that stage in the game, you need to be very careful in what you say (aka, don't play like me :p), and how you word it. I could probably elaborate more, but that's the gist for endgame purposes (that's what sealed the deal for me).

Also, why has the Askthepizzaguy Award, former Takhisis Award, been renamed Takhisis Award again?

I thought this was explained in the Awards post, but it's because I ended up just looking at the total posts in the thread anyways, since scanning for spam posts would take way too long for my lazy butt.

Ah, okay. On Buddha, he did a good job of distancing himself from the Horsemen, but he was so scummy in the end, and not knowing that Nazis had been eliminated, that he would have been lynched as Nazi the next Day phase.

I know I didn't put up a "Nazis were eliminated" message, but really? You guys thought there were five Nazis?

Of course, I thought the same thing.
