Snipers at a peaceful Police protected rally. Looks like the Dallas PD and BLM are on good terms too - Dallas PD twitter account has photos of officers with protesters and twitter updates on the rally up until the shooting started.
Dallas PD also circulated a photo of a "suspect" or "person of interest" but it seems to be just a protester open-carrying an AR-15 because, you know, Texas. Reportedly it was unloaded and he surrendered it to police after the shooting started.
Does anyone else have the feeling that the pace of history* has sped up quite a bit in the past year or so? Like things are finally changing quickly, in unpredictable and often scary ways?
Obviously this will turn out to be an act by a couple of snipers, probably sympathizing with Black Lives Matter but not acting in any sort of coordinated way with the BLM movement. Part of the effect will be to deepen the black vs. blue split and more generally the split between liberals and conservatives. No matter how wide a chasm is, it can always be made wider.
*to the extent this is a meaningful concept, which is probably dubious. But I have this feeling that 2016 and the next couple years after that will be mentioned significantly more than 2010-15 in the history books of the future.

Yes, and it's only going to go faster and get worse and then there's going to be revolution, however, people like myself would say all of this was completely predictable.
At a press conference at around 12:40 central time Friday, Dallas Police Chief David Brown said three of these suspects are in custody. The fourth has been in a stand-off with police on the second floor of the El Centro parking garage for 45 minutes. That suspect has fired at police.
Brown said there may be more persons involved in the attack. He believes the four suspects worked together with rifles, “triangulated at elevated positions at difference places in the downtown area” to attack police officers.

It's the exact situation as the Orlando slaughter, the police were in a crowded Dallas night club unarmed and the terrorist walked amongst them shooting/killing at will.
It's amazing how you spotted the similarity when nobody else did.
so is it just me that all those American cops are extremely rotund people with presumed arm strength to restraint people but still shoot people , especially when their bulk have blocked view from possible smartphones recording ? Are those guys are justifiably scared that the guy they are sitting on will just draw a gun on them or they are just shooting unruly N__s that might shoot back when the end of the world comes and the dominion of the right kind of people is to be established ?
