And last excerpt from the Popol Vuh to post - the play by play how the previous "destruction" occurred.
=======================

The animals entered the houses and domains of these "men" and smashed their faces in. Then everything began to talk; their water jars, their tortilla skillets, their plates, their cooking pots, and grinding stones beat the remaining pulp of their faces.
"You caused us pain and you ate us. Now it is time for us to eat" said their turkeys. Then their grinding stones spoke, "We were tortured because of you. Every day you all ripped and rubbed food right in our faces, only to waste your food. At least that was when you were people, now we shall grind you and your flesh." Their dogs spoke next in turn, "Why did you never feed us? You barely looked at us but you always chased us away. You always kept a stick lying on the ground to hit us when you were eating. You didn't speak to us and treated us badly. Maybe we won't kill you now, but why didn't you look ahead - why didn't you change? Why didn't you think about what you were doing? Now we will kill you. And you will feel our teeth as we devour you." Then their tortilla skillets and pots spoke, "Pain! It is all you have done for us and the world Our mouths and faces were covered always in soot. You set us on fire and burnt the world constantly. We didn't feel any pain, so you try it now."
Then the stone in their houses shot at the creatures' heads. The men were desperate and ran as fast as they could. Some of them climbed to the roofs of their houses but their houses began to collapse. Others tried to climb into the trees but they were thrown from them. Some even tried to hide in the caves, but the caves swallowed them and their race.
This was the destruction of the wooden man. The mouths and faces of all of them had been destroyed and crushed. It is said that monkeys and lizards are their descendant, of the survivors, of the last attempt at man. That is why monkeys look similar to humans; they were the favorites of the gods.
