Seven years of no recession is good. You get that.

However, it is not accurate to say that the economy "was rocking" along. Limping along is closer. If you were referring to the end of 2014 and the first two quarters of 2015 as rocking, I could get aboard. As you say, looking at 2016 colors me unimpressed.

Anything that isn't recession is rocking along in an economy with our demographics. That's only going to become more true as we limit immigration. A true existential crisis arrives when we start discussing how humanity is going to handle 0 or negative population growth and the associated economic repercussions of that inevitable reality.

Hey, I don't make the realities. Explaining why I should get a break from regulation, or you should, does fly straight into the face of "people can't be assed to do anything." I know that isn't news to you. So as the population tilts ever further away from the rural you guys are gonna get counted less and less and have to put up with more and more. Quite the opposite. As I said, my truck is illegal until I get around to fixing it myself, at which point I will piss and moan about having to pay the fee to get a smog cert. I run pretty much totally deregulated, unlicensed, untaxed, untracked and amok. And I know that neither party would touch me without radioactive material handling tongs, even though candidates from both parties wanted my assistance and support in the recent campaigns.

As to the general urbanity, they aren't about copyright obsequiousness, they just don't snap directly to copyrights as the issue. They snap to environmental deregulation, and there's no return on the investment of explaining them off that perspective.

Polling stations even had signs that clearly stated the candidate was dead, yet people voted for him anyway simply to stop the Democrat candidate from winning the seat.

I'd choose a dead Democrat over a live Republican any day.

Yeah, how smart do you think the average motorist is, at this point? The last five car jobs I've had the customers between them could not explain the basic concept of internal combustion. If you tell them "if a light comes on, just call OnStar" they think it's a feature. The good news is that not one of them would have the first clue how to fire up a woodchipper, so they're safe.

The seat will be vacant until the county commissioners in his district appoint a replacement. (that's how it usually works; I had to look up who does the appointment) I don't know if the replacement serves the whole term, or if there's eventually another election.
