2018 U.S election

I was able to get out and vote this morning, and I only had to wait about two minutes at my polling place. I was told by a lady working there how they were really busy earlier, and she probably won't get a break later, so I guess I really got lucky and chose a good time. I'm voting all Democrat, I do hope mostly Gretchin Whitmer and Debbie Stabenow both win today, and also all three proposals I voted Yes for on my ballot.

I refuse to be optimistic about any of it until the end of the week because as I've said before I consider it a strong possibility that Trump will declare the election results cannot be certified because of Chinese hacking and illegal alien votes

There is zero chance he'd do that.

Dude, he claimed election fraud when he won!

Everytime I hear her name I can't help but think about that awful "Debbiespenditnow" Republican attack ad with the young woman speaking in a fake Asian-broken-English accent. :shake:

Exactly... there is literally zero chance that he WON'T claim that there was Chinese hacking and election fraud.

Then he'll impose tariffs on China and claim a few months later that he hasn't put any tariffs on China so if there are tariffs on China, Obama must have done it.

Someone on NPR just said that the early voting total includes a lot of people who didn't vote in 2014. I'm not sure how they know that, though (as opposed to people who regularly vote on the day choosing to vote early this time). Maybe most people tend to vote at the same time, when they do vote? I also wonder if early votes includes people living in other countries, in the services, etc., or if those are counted separately.

538 has in its database a FC for the turnout. IDK if they use that integrated in their election FC with assumptions on the voting behaviour of "new votes". If so the effect is in their election FC.
But from this list competed districts have high turn outs

Results starting to come in. Going to be a long and interesting night.

Imagine me saying ‘you're going to need it’ in a perfect imitation of Harrison Ford's voice, at about 1977.
I think I was probably banned by then though I was still lurking the forum. I think I've heard the term "sociocracy" before but not sure what it means - hit me.
Well, go to George Monbiot's site for a start; ignore the occasionally aggressive veganism for now and start looking for articles on sociocracy, he dumps a few links and there's a sociocracy foundation somewhere. I won't write anything in advance so as not to give you any preconceptions (and also I want to keep up with them US 'lekshuns.

Feel free to throw these comments back in my face if she beats her polls, by the way. Seems unlikely - I usually avoid making predictions unless they are relatively sure bets - but I suppose anything is theoretically possible. If anything, the Senate vote looks to be even more lopsided.
UPDATE: Neither Comstock nor Stewart beat their polls. Good night for the Dems in NoVA.

Democrats are getting creamed in the Senate.
I think I could take all the other losses (since Dems were never going to take the Senate) if Beto could pull it off against Cruz.

Mixed bag so far...
I suspect that will still be true in the morning.

Tennessee and Indiana Senate races went Republican very quickly. I'm surprised. Both were considered in play. Beto leads in the early voting in Texas, which is not a surprise. If it holds up, that will be a different story.

I don't think the Dems will take the house. :(

Kornacki just raised the chance from 65 to 70%. I have a feeling it is going to happen.

Edit: And at 9:44, he raised it to 80%.
