Surprised? Just another example that Biden is leaning hard into the"safe" route of courting moderates and/or "tacking to the center" As an aside,Colin Powell's endorsement was wildly praised when it was for Obama. So the DNC cackling while twisting the boot on the neck of the left wing of its party continues apace. They announced today that Colin Powell will be making remarks at the convention.
In any case, although I think "twisting the boot on the neck" is a little much in the context of this particular endorsement, I agree with you that the party is taking the same approach as in 2016, which is taking the left wing for granted and "appealing to moderate conservatives"... I will say that I'm not encouraged that it was worth it, given what I'm hearing from @Farm Boy and @Commodore . Maybe they should have just leaned harder into AOC and Sanders. AOCs shade tonight, whereby she only seconded Bernie Sanders' endorsement, was pretty telling. I had to listen to it twice to realize that she was actually co-signing Sanders' endorsement of Biden, rather than outright defying the party and endorsing Bernie Sanders. I can see now why they only gave her 1 minute (which she exceeded)... she refused to give the ringing endorsement of Biden that they wanted, but they absolutely needed to include her anyway, because of how popular she is.
Just more evidence that maybe its time to embrace AOC's left and abandon "the center"... especially if even moderate conservatives can't get behind someone like Biden.
Warren was my first choice for POTUS... she is not a "woman of color".She would've been my preferred "woman of color" over Harris
She "seconded" Sanders' nomination of Biden, but yes it was obviously defiantly throwing shade at Biden and indicating that she still preferred Sanders.[I just saw AOC nominate Sanders for President, btw. The left wing of the party might really force the party to turn leftwards this next cycle, like the Tea Party forced the GOP into their own new type of policies]
In any case, the Tea Party thrived where the Republicans lost for the second time. A Biden win will not fuel the same sort of reaction. Only a Trump re-election would potentially create a liberal version of the Tea Party.
