The point of the bans was to invent an issue to scare and upset gullible people and in doing so gain the Republican Party an electoral edge, and in that respect they were a fairly complete success.

I suppose, subjectively, from your point-of-view, it's perfectly alright, as you seem to be non-religious. Thus, also saying that the Taliban, al-Qaeda, and ISIS were properly observed Islam, and Kahane is a respectable example of a rabbi, and genocidal ethnic purist in Sri Lanka and Myanmar are swell Buddhists, and Scientology is a full and actual religion, and not a power- and money-hungry scam, because they say they're a religion, is a purely acceptable point of view to people like you, right? I think the argument was that debating theological truth doesn‘t really lead you anywhere. And looking at the thread title, it‘s quite clear where they will vote. The question is how enthusiastic about Trump is the „average“ evangelical voter still? I can see the loud ones, but I can see also some sceptics turning away after 4 years of really getting to know the man. It takes time when you have a busy life to absorb political information after all.

The U.S. President having the power to launch nuclear weapons without failsafes, advice from high-ranking officers that can easily be binding, the inability to physically enact the whole sequence on his own, and other protocols and such, but such having a "red button," or a "nuclear football," or codes he can just punch in when he feels like it, is Hollywood stuff. Everyone here is aware of that and not foolish to fall for such sensationalist cinematic portrayals - or are they?

It was an obviously ridiculous strategy to think that Biden would lure republican votes. He can easily cost democrat votes, though.

I recently spoke to my father-in-law who voted for Trump in the last election. He is incredibly torn who to vote for. He hates Trump as a person, and knows he is bad for America's image and is exacerbating America's divisions, however he still agrees with some of his policies, and thinks Trump will do better with the economy than Biden. He also still hates the Deomocrats (apart from Gretchin Whitmer). So he can't decide whether to vote for Biden, Trump or 3rd party. However I do agree with the point made, as this is a result of Trump alienating him rather than Biden successfully wooing his vote.

I also was messaged by a MAGA supporting relative who thought she was the one (she is a Plandemic and Quanon believing individual, who also denies climate change and hates immigrants) to show me the error of my ways in hating Trump. What I did learn from her is that MAGA fans will find a way to not put any blame on Trump for anything including broken promises. ACA not removed therefore the Democrats fault (even though it was clearly the Republicans as they had control of congress and Senate at the time), the economy in recession the Democrats fault (though in fairness this is also not entirely Trumps fault), Clinton not being locked up was out of Trumps control (so why promise it then) and the wall not being built the Democrats fault (at least some truth in the last one, though you would think Trump being such a "great negotiator" could have managed something). After being unable to change my mind on Trump being a terrible president, she called me a fool, and said if Biden wins the USA will turn into communist Russia. So that was nice!

On a final note, people seem to be getting very pessimistic on Bidens chances, last I saw he is still ahead, though inevitably it is narrowing up. I would still make Biden the favorite to win in November, but maybe only with a 55-60% chance to win. However if Trump does win I wont be making any rash statements about moving to another country, instead I will just be very very sad!!

I'm finishing my degree in two years. If Trump wins I'll certainly be looking to get a job outside the US. Whether I'll succeed or not, I don't know, but I'll try.

It also takes time for real information to work its way through the state propaganda networks (Fox News). If all you watch is Fox News and OANN, all you listen to is conservative talk radio, and all you read is Brietbart, you will believe you live in an entirely different reality than the real world. In this 'alternative facts' world, incriminating and damning news about Trump and the GOP are at least heavily filtered before they reach you - and most of the bad news won't reach you at all. Polling around the impeachment hearings showed the typical conservative had literally no idea that Trump had committed the crimes he had committed because that stuff simply isn't reported inside their media bubble or is perverted to become stories of Democratic wrong doing.
