2020 US Election (Part Two)

It seems to, going by Tucker trying to blame Graham for Trump saying crap to that well-known journalist.

"Fox Contributor" is Fox code flagging "this is one of those lying Democrats or RINOs we allow on because we are so fair and balanced here, disregard their lies and Hannity and Tucker will set the record straight shortly." Always followed by a story about how the fake news networks, ie everyone but Fox, are censoring the conservative view.

At a rally yesterday, Trump walked through how he's going to attempt to win a third term 'because he deserves it' due to how he was treated this term. He says he's going to 'negotiate' for that term which is of course nonsense as on paper it requires a constitutional amendment which he won't be able to get. I doubt his 'negotiations' will have any legal standing - he'll have Barr put together an insane legal justification that requires nothing but his own orders to execute and he'll do it. I'm only 50% confident that the Supreme Court would even try to stop him but by the time they make a ruling he'll have already established himself and won't leave. At that point it's up to the military to intervene because I don't see the GOP in Congress stopping him and I don't see the Democrats having 60 votes in the Senate nor do I see them overturning filibuster rules

This scenario all hinges on Trump winning a second term but I could see him trying to do something like this if he loses in November.

Chris Wallace with the same anti-Trump line.

He said the same thing, that Trump can't seriously claim he wants to prevent panic when all he does is increase panic using a lot of issues which aren't as bad as Covid.

Psycho-Trump tweets 70 times in a day

About "whack job Bolton", "Corona/Chinavirus" and other stuff.

Thing is you're mostly preaching to the converted around CFC.

The few Trump fans here not likely to be swayed by such videos.

70 a day is once every 10 minutes for 12 straight hours.

I'm a bit jealous of his postcount supremacy.

I guess you could say... he was trying to sway the few non-Trump fans in his tweeter.

Fortunately, Trump's not doing too well in support here. He's almost certainly become the least popular Republican President - perhaps least popular U.S. President in history - with the U.S. military (and, as I understand, that started long before the "dead soldiers are losers," comments, but going back to the reasons for Mattis' stormy resignation), so, regardless of a whole thread earlier speculating the military might actually make a coup on Biden if he won to keep Trump in power, it strikes me that Trump had better hope his tenure in power and his fate is NEVER in the hands of the U.S. military, alone. I'm pretty sure they like Biden better, as well.

That is what pollsters have been saying lately with respect to his plummeting support in the military. I am not sure when the slide started but I think it was around when he pulled soldiers out of northern Syria and left the Kurds out to dry. I am all for ending the endless American military adventures but he literally picked the worst intervention to end, the one where he betrayed a regional ally that has faced multiple attempts at genocide and extermination and the way he handled it was just disgraceful and I don't think it sat well with soldiers.

As I understand it, he's the first Republican president with negative military approval numbers in the enlisted ranks.

On June 5, he tweeted 200 times.
This week he talked with a Fox reporter about how much TV he had watched that day - he watched 9 hours of Fox programming on just that day. That's not even counting anything else he watched, just Fox! One day! He's the leader of the free world and he works less than your average Burger King line cook.

Before the 2016 election, I said I didn't think he really wanted to be president--that he wouldn't like being in boring meetings all day about other people's welfare.

What I hadn't conceived of was the possibility that he simply wouldn't do the job!

I fully agree that only soulless, psychologically disturbed people with no grasp on morality absolutely over-Tweet. Of course, possessing not Twitter account, never have, and with firm intention to never do so, I can say this with conviction. :p

I posted in the coup thread that apparently the Secret Service and Marines have had the conversation who gets to drag Trump out if the white house if he won't go.

The question really is if the supreme court sides with Trump and the military sides with Biden in a disputed election.

There won't be a coup to keep Trump in power.

I could see him trying something but I tend to agree that he won't have many backers. I have a hard time believing the anyone in the military or secret service are having conversations about him mounting an attempt to steal the office but that's probably just my bias.

My personal belief he is gonna get a hiding in the election.

Gerrymandering and other fun and games might let him get a disputed election.

Even then I'm not 100% convinced the supreme court will rubber stamp anything he does with Kennedy and Gorsuch.

The chief of staff has already given a boiler plate vague answer on the subject but he seems to be saying that the military can't interpret civilian politics and that he'll obey whoever the is sitting president regardless of how they come to power. Oath to defend against domestic threats be damned.

Trump has made life more cushy for the top brass even if they do despise him. When he threatened to deploy the military against American civilians all they did was give an annoyed wimper and were able to talk Trump down. But otherwise they gave no indication at all that they wouldn't do a Bonus Army Tienanmen Square if ordered to do so.

If the worst case scenario happens, then I think a general uprising will be the only way to get rid of Trump.
