Good point - thats true. Yet police reform on federal level is possible by passing legislation eg. stricter rules on gun use., banning rubber bullets etc

Riots that cause decades worth of economic damage might be the only way to get the police to reform.
Peaceful protests the last 5 years didn't do much.


As for why rioters don't burn down police stations, those are not gun-free zones full of goodies.

The Terminator, a robot cyborg from the future, took a fair amount of damage destroying a police station and it was a walking tank essentially.

In real life, the last guy who went to war with the cops (Christopher Dorner) caused a manhunt that led to innocent people being shot by the cops.
He was eventually pinned down in a cabin, and the cops set the cabin on fire until he died.

Since this was a local event for me the depiction that Dorner "led to innocent people being shot by the cops" is irksome at best. Yes, he shot up the cops. Yes, that may have made the usual "we have guns and yet we always fear for our lives" cop attitude at least slightly more justifiable. But please do not try to pretend that "well, you are somewhere in southern California driving a pickup truck" was legitimately turned into a capital offense without necessity of judge and jury. The cops, as always, over reacted with violence against the public, and as always received no consequences whatsoever.

Eight Los Angeles police officers who mistakenly opened fire on Los Angeles Times newspaper delivery women thinking they were rogue ex-cop Christopher Dorner in 2013 will not be criminally charged, the L.A. County district attorney’s office announced Wednesday.

Threats from Dorner to target law enforcement command centers “created an environment that was significantly different from other shootings,” the document said. The officers, the memo said, saw a vehicle similar to the one Dorner was believed to be driving crawling down the residential street with its hazard lights and headlights on. One officer said he mistook the sound of a newspaper hitting the ground for a gunshot, the memo said.

“The fear of Dorner was understandable and justified,” the document said. “There is no evidence to suggest that the officers did not honestly believe that Dorner was in the vehicle, nor is there evidence to suggest that the officers did not honestly believe they were being fired upon.”

Poor newspaper delivery women.

Hernandez was shot twice. Carranza suffered cuts to her hand, likely from broken glass. Both women survived and received a $4.2-million legal settlement from the city.

The memo said that once the women’s vehicle came to a stop, “the barrage of gunfire was tremendous, and troubling.”

I guess you sincerely believe that Zimmerman was actually hoping for a chance to kill a random black kid.

Zimmerman wanted to use a gun against another person no doubt, and almost certainly a black person. I've met too many scum like him. The idea of being forced into violence by an attacker is an obsession or even fantasy to them. Add racist paranoia and a dash of fake authority and you'll have a dead innocent black kid in no time.

I was in jail when the federal building in Oklahoma City got blown up. You would be amazed at the basic patriotism of criminals, so all these guys are yapping about what a horrible thing it was. For my part me and one other guy who were being held on a lease agreement there in the county jail while being processed through federal court were less put off.

I'm telling these guys that I go to the local "federal building" on a regular basis, and the federal building is full of cops, period, and it's strange to me that these guys are fretting over a bunch of cops. Not like I'm in favor of blowing up buildings, but if you're gonna get pissed off and blow up a building that seems a better choice than most.

So in a burst of spectacular timing, at that moment on the TV they pop up with "the in building day care center for the employees." So this guy I'm talking to is all about "kids man, there were kids." I gave about a split second's thought to "how many employers, circa 1995, provide an in the building day care other than cops?" but figured the economics of it were off the point...so I said "they were cop's kids, probably just grow up to be cops anyway." And sure enough, just as I said it they start interviewing this retired guy...cop...who is lamenting his grandson...cop who was in the building...with a kid in the day care...and how upsetting this would be for his son...cop...and his other grandson who was on the scene...local cop.

Just cops. Quon's daughter's fiance...was a cop. It's a bloodline, and there are no innocents. When I had my business I had no qualms about saying right in the middle of a bid "Oh, you're a cop? Yeah, no bid." Being a cop is a choice, and choices have to have consequences.

Hope Hicks, one of President Trump’s most senior advisers, has tested positive for the coronavirus, three people familiar with the matter said.

Ms. Hicks is the closest known person to the president to have contracted the virus, which causes Covid-19. She traveled with Mr. Trump on Wednesday aboard Air Force One to Minnesota for a campaign rally in Duluth.
