90's Rock is Hipster?

Hmm... '90s music, you say? *Scratches goatee thoughtfully, taps clove cigarette into ashtray*

Massive Attack - Blue Lines; Protection; and Mezzanine
The Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness and Siamese Dream
Cat Power - Moon Pix and What Would the Community Think?
Elliott Smith - Either/Or and XO
Pearl Jam - Ten
Temple of the Dog - Temple of the Dog
The Melvins - Houdini and Stoner Witch
The Jesus Lizard - Goat and Shot
Sam Black Church - Let In Life
Faithless - Insomnia
Moloko - Do You Like My Tight Sweater?
Lamb - Fear of Fours
Underworld - dubnobasswithmyheadman
Propellerheads - Decksanddrumsandrockandroll
Tricky - Maxinquaye

...and the soundtracks for Trainspotting and Judgement Night.

As others have said, I could go on all day, but I think that's enough for now.

Okay, four dozen plus eleven.

Here are a few other cool Canadian songs from the 1990s.

Spoiler :

in my high school class there was one boy who had a morrissey t-shirt on. I was so happy and went up to him and started talking about The Smiths. he didn't even know who morrissey was "lol I just thought it looked fashionable". well, **** me.

I had a Sepultura top in 1995 and didn't know who they were.

Just liked the design.

I did make an effort to listen to their music and Nailbomb later on.

it's a different story with metal, especially BM imo. I can't even read most metal shirts and find many of them aesthetically pleasing.

good list, really love that underworld album.

There's also a lot of good Canadian rock from the 1990s. There was the Tragically Hip, of course. And just from the top of my head (and no particular order) you had Our Lady Peace, I Mother Earth, the Barenaked Ladies, the Tea Party, Headstones, Moist, The Age of Electric, The Watchmen, the Matthew Good Band, the Grapes of Wrath, Junkhouse and probably five dozen other bands that I'm forgetting about.

These are all awesome groups (except for Junkhouse, whom I'm unfamiliar with).

Barenaked Ladies? Never thought they were that good.

Music is very subjective though.

I don't really listen to them a bunch but they came to the top of my memory so it would've been weird leaving them out.

I can't stop myself.

Hooverphonic - Blue Wonder Power Milk
Fluke - Risotto
Beth Orton - Trailer Park and Central Reservation
Sneaker Pimps - Becoming X
Morcheeba - Big Calm
Curve - Doppleganger and Come Clean
Soul Coughing - Ruby Vroom and Irresistible Bliss
MC 900 Ft. Jesus - Welcome to My Dream
Consolidated - Friendly Fascism and Business of Punishment
My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult - Sexplosion!
Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy - Hypocrisy is the Greatest Luxury
Zap Mama - Seven and A Ma Zone

I went to see MC 900-FT Jesus and they made the mistake of letting Consolidated open for them. Consolidated put on a high-energy show that started a pit, even though it wasn't billed as a punk show. By the time they finished their set, everybody was sweaty and pumped and ready for more action. Then MC 990Ft Jesus came out with their laid-back chillgroove - well suited to 4:20, if you know what I mean - and it was a really poor contrast that didn't serve the headliners well. I guess you could say that Consolidated were simultaneously the best and worst opening band I've ever seen.

Conversely, My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult had Traci Lords open for them, but she was a DJ and didn't really have a stage show. If that same club had Lords appear as a guest DJ on one of their weekend dance nights, she would've killed, but as an opening act for a live band, she kind of bombed.

Traci Lord's could actually sing. Not what she's famous for of course.

I expected another calming video.

Swift is one of the things that's just not very good. She is the marquee of when modern pop doesn't know how to sing with stresses, something that's like nails on chalkboard when you notice, and her hooks are like paste. And yes, I like contemporary pop. She will be remembered - as the first star to properly utilize SoMe.

Speaking of 90s hipster:

The sentiment in that video and song regarding other people's views of the singer' opinions is often how I feel...

Darn Kyr's video is blocked. I'll just pretend like I'm contributing.
