Don't know if this is ROM or ROM:AND, but I pulled diplomatic victory through the UN, a first for me, and nothing happened. The motion passed, I had 3 of the 4 AI votes commited to me through diplomacy.

Were you playing with Mastery Victory? Master Victory over-rides all other victory settings.

It also means that you need to play every turn of the game, even if you own the entire map. For that reason, I don't use it.

Hi!

I cannot load the saved game (attached).
I get C++ exception, or just stop loading in Init graphics part.
I play with RoM 2.81 and AND 1.53 with 1.55 patch.

Hope can somebody help, because this game is so exciting.

I'm using the Mastery Victory option for the first time in my current game. I'm around the year 2108. How long does the game go on?

Until you complete all the turns, depends on your gamespeed.

No, a conquest victory with vassals should end the game.

What about with No Vassals Allowed?

Didn't know Mastery superseded every condition....hmmm.... ( make note to uncheck Mastery next game)

Then the game will end in either a conquest victory, or at the end of time.

I know this is a rather old topic of discussion, but you really gotta tone down the amount of units a new civ gets. It would be fine if I had raging barbs or barb world, but I don't and when a barb city went from minor civ to full civ it received 20 axemen, not only is that 5 times more units than me, the originally most powerful civ on the Australia sized continent, but no civ in the entire game even has metal casting. I realize that's the revolution mod's job to see to it, but they're doin' other stuff, if you could point me toward a quick fix or if you could change the received units according to other civs that would be great, but a civ that was bran-spankin new gets 20 axemen, 10 spearmen and 5 Town Watchmen in the wee turns at the beginning is completely and utterly overpowered.

Forget it.

I reduce graphics settings and now I'm able to load it.
Currently I had to go back to 1024×768, Low, and Windowed mode.
Original settings were 1280×1024, Medium, Full screen.

I've got ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 with 1G RAM. It's a shame that now this is not enought. :(
Prev RoM versions (2.5 and before) were able to run on huge maps with 30+ civs. AND or the new RoM (2.8.x) need such a hude video memory?
It would be nice if AND would suppot "NoBuldingGraphics" option to spare memory.

(The interesting thing is that I'm obviously can run on the original settings, because I was playing on it and saved a game, I just can't load it. Maybe the loading mechanism is corrupt/flaw somehow...)

UPDATE :
I'm able to load 1280×1024, Hight graphics level, BUT windowd mode.
1024×768, Low, and Full screen mode still cause error or freeze.

Definiatly the Full screnn graphics option hangling is buggy.

UPDATE 2:
I've just noticed. ATI CCC (Catalist Control Center) cannot start. Maybe both problem caused by the same issue. Yesterday I installed Steam and AvP3 Demo. Uninstalling both and reinstalling ATI direver does not help. Great! Now I can reinstall the whole system :(

Have downloaded the latest driver for your graphics card? That graphics card should be able to run AND fine.

I've got ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 with 1G RAM.

Does that card have Pixel Shader 2.0? Or 1.x? Makes a Huge difference.

I have an ATI HD 4650 with only 512MB of DDR2 ram and I play RoM on 1680 x 1050 res on High settings, full screen.

If you Cat Control Cntr won't run you have major display/vid card problem. Reinstall from the ATI disc and then update.

Can we make Feudalism less of a Bottle Neck?

Feudalism has always been a bottleneck in Civ; mainly because it's one of the defining characteristics for the middle ages.

Yeah, Feudalism needs to be very important, at least the way the techs in that era are structured.

While on the subject of Feudalism, it makes me think a bit about the balance between Longbows and Crossbows.

As it stands, I constantly see AI's beeline for Machinery to get Crossbowmen without doing Feudalism. While Machinery is itself an expensive tech, it doesn't have too many requirements, so I almost always find Crossbows around before Longbows. I think there should be an earlier version of crossbows and a later version so Longbows didn't become almost obsolete before Feudalism is even researched, or maybe weaken crossbows to 8 str instead of 9.

Even at 8 str, crossbows would be a very strong unit against infantry, which is historically accurate. When you beeline through the Siege tech to Machinery, you can make armies of pikeman and crossbows that are very hard to counter. Anyone else feel this way?

Hello

OOS when a Barbar attack a city.
no OOS when:
-barbarian attack an unit
-when attacking a Barbarian
-when attacking a Barbarian city

I think Crossbows should come later than Machinery. I always beeline for Machinery myself. It has some vital improvements as well as the best unit for quite a while.
