Under this system, each city becomes a state in its own right but associated with other cities in a confederacy having their own governing systems. The states may secede if the ruler of the city is unhappy with staying in the confederacy. Players get to chose their city and decide how it'll be run on basis of a plan. If chosen the capital shall be transferred to Indraprasth.

This allows so many fun possibilities! City States please!

Yahoo! Someone didn't vote for Republic. Nearly everyone on this forum always plays the goody two-shoes choice with freedom and liberty and doesn't try to be realistic. All countries have both good sides and dark sides. They have all had moments of freedom and moments of dictatorships. Plus, I'm kinda tired of republics at the moment. Every IAAR is one. That is why I really dislike it when a civic change is offered. I also didn't pick city states because I'm in the Democratic Caliphate story and that is similar. I liked how the story was before this change. Us as advisers for a monarch instead of voters.

Note- I hope I didn't offend anyone. This is just my sincere opinion.

I've always wondered about why the early/ancient republics almost all fell to monarchy or dictatorship. India had very powerful republican kingdoms but Magadh trounced them all. Kalinga was the most powerful of all the republics and it withstood the might of the Mauryas for a whole generation before eventually succumbing to it. In Rome, again the republic eventually gave way to monarchy. Then Greece, which was a republic caved in to Rome. What was the weakness of these republics that made them fail ? Yet when we come to the modern period, it is the opposite, democratic and republican nations defeat monarchies or dictatorships. In India's case the early republics weren't what you'd call a democracy in the modern sense, but really an oligarchy. The republic I'll build will not be a very democratic one needless to say . I mean it is republic + Direct Rule + forced labor + subjugation

It has to do with the knowledge. Democracy became popular because of the political sciences that are just as important as things like astronomy during the renaissance period. It's all about the growth and development of man. We were monarchs because we couldn't conceive democracy. Now we are a democracy through centuries of growth that continue today.

I was thinking of revealing this after the elections are over, but since we're heading towards a republic I might as well say it right now.

After the elections are over, the losing side gets a choice whether to accept the new government or revolt. When that happens you would revolt in the place which would have been the capital had your civic been chosen. You'll get stacks in accordance to the number of votes you get. So e.g Autocracy got 2 definite votes (I'm not counting Moai's till the end), you'll get two units of your choice from any buildable unit, and Pataliputra would secede. That is if you chose to do so. This applies to all the civics.

There won't be another one for at least two hundred years after this . India needs its strength to fight the Greeks and Cholas and then the Seljuks. If we successfully beat off the Seljuks, I'll modmod the Mughals out. That is a true reflection of Indian history, since the delhi sultanate is an offshoot from invasions from the west. Also, there will be a inter-mediate update tomorrow, where I'll describe the situation in India and some new independent states rise in the Deccan and in Afghanistan. Good thing is you won't need to train settlers to settle those regions , bad thing is, whoever wins would have to conquer them .
