I've been seeing advertisements for this lately, especially on television and here at CFC. I cannot help but think that this movie will be a terrible disaster.

What does everyone else here have to say? Any thoughts or predictions?

when i saw the first commercial, i already hated it.
It will probably do okay, but I hope it fails miserably.

I don’t know anything about Aeonflux but from the commercials it does look kind of weird and the storyline doesn't sound too interesting. By the way, am I the only one who noticed the futuristic soldiers wearing that clunky armor look suspiciously similar to orc soldiers from LOTR?

It doesnt seems surreal like in the cartoon, which was more abstract and confusing, which that i liked.

Another futuristic assassin/clone/robot trained by some oppresive Nazi-like government breaks free and fights against their formal masters.

Gee, never seen that kind of plot before....

Even worse is the fact that this is another character stolen from some old anime or comic book. Poeple can't seem to write their own material any more.

saw a commercial for it when i went ot see harry potter a few days ago.
i'll go see it.
probably not today (its out today right?) but after its out a week or so, probably will go see it.
i like the futuristic "perfect on the outside, evil on the inside" society type things.

if u do,please dont tell us what it is about.I think i already have an idea of what it is.

Its going to suck of course, and probably bear little resemblance to the cartoon. They just bought the rights to the name thats all.

Failure. Most movies made by Hollywood that are based on other ideas that have already been done before will be doomed to failure simply because the idea has already been done before.

However there are only a handful of exceptions to this rule. In my opinion, the modern Incredible Hulk movie was neat because it didn't skimp on the action. What could be better than pitting the embodiment of the wild and savage nature that humanity possesses deep inside their souls against the highest product of human engineering and intellect? Plus it had lots of smashing! High tech stealth helicopters? The most advanced tank in production? The strongest military in the history of the planet? Nothing but children playing with tinker toys when it comes to the Hulk! The talking was boring but the smashing was most excellent! Also Superman Returns is looking good!

sorry coming out so soon agianst harry-firckin'-potter is no contest, flux will lose, and Potter will win, gobbeling up all the people who woudl have seen flux.

of course, I'm willing to bet Kong is going to be the 900 pound gorrilla in the box office this year, in more ways then one ;)

The first time I watched the commercial I thought that the movie would flop.

But then again, I thought the Chronicles of Riddick would be a hit.

Aeon Flux is being made into a movie now ?

/watches trailer

GAH thats awful
Totaly lacking in the style which made Aeon Flux cartoon a success.

It won't be Serenity. That's for sure.

And I think Riddick was totally under-rated. I really liked how they clearly had more story than we were being shown.

AF was a series ages ago - I haven't seen the trailer, but I think a movie would suck - I thought the series sucked.

I read some drivel about it being some art/amazing work defining genre crappola - nah, it's just the usual cheapas animation coupled with a derivitive story.

It will probably do well

I think there will be three groups potentially seeing the movie. First would be the people who just want to see a movie, the first few will say it was bad/hokie/for fans of the series/etc. and by word of mouth no one else in the group will go. Second will be the comic fans (I didn't even know it was based off a comic!), they'll go see it and then, let's be honest here, post on AeonFlux forums about how the movie was wrong/inaccurate/bad/etc. Third will be the sort who will see it because the plotline intruiges them, like RoddyVR, or they think that actress is hot or whatever.

It'll gross 10 million and never be spoken of again.

I read it they paper Paramount didn't have critic's advanced screening of Aeon Flux -- a sure sign of a film's poor quality.

But just looking at the commercial, you can tell the movie going to blow.

Meh, it does not look that good to me.
