AIDS cured!.... or not

What do you want to bet there will be people flying down from the UK and USA to try this out?

Yes, some people who are dying will be desperate enough to try anything.

Imagine, just for a second, that it proves to be a genuine cure. I think the entire Western scientific community would go crazy.

No, they'd spend years studying it then sell it for $10,000 a shot.

I see the West is quick to rubbish anything that might threaten profits . . . ;)

The vast majority of third-world Aids sufferers won't get a cure from Western scientists any time soon. Even if it's found they won't be able to pay for them. It'd be interesting to see where this will lead to.

Tell him that.
Sadly, it's too late for him. :( He has his parents to blame for his condition.

What I don't get is why experts are spending time being "horrified" instead of studying the herbal remedy.

Also, all the current drugs do is extend lifespan, allowing AIDS patients to infect more partners and spawn more AIDS infected children. :(

It's capitalism. The pharmacutical companies don't want a cheap, readily available cure made in some African country. They don't care about curing Aids, all they care about are profits.

That and they're probably horrified at this backwater medicine man for showing them up.

Kind of like how Christian missionaries were probably horrified back in the day to see native peoples around the world healthy, happy and with absolutely no need or desire for guilt, shame or Jesus.

The experts are horrified because a third world country is developing a cure and not one the first world countries

They're defaming it because it's a third world medicine and IF it did work, the experts would be put to shame as they've been beaten by a third world nation. However, I think the AIDS cure just set off my bullfeathers detector... You can't really trust someone who has no medical knowledge to make a cure for a dangerous virus. It's just like me saying drinking toxic waste is good for your health. I have no medical knowledge or dietary knowledge and here I am claiming toxic waste is good for you.

I say America, the UK and Australia and Europe each send out their own spies to get the ingredients for the cure and test it out at home. If the spies are caught however.... :sniper: :spear: :nuke:

Why does it say "experts horrified?" I'd think people would be exctatic, instead you guys are too busy turning your noses up at a man simply because of his "lack of formal medical training."

They are horrified because this is obviously not a cure. It will likely have the opposite effect; it will make people think that they have been cured, which might prompt them to have sex, spreading AIDS further.

This is all about the President's ego, sadly... or he could just be crazy.. possibly a combination of both ;)

You're not skeptical when a person with a "lack of formal medical training" claims to solve one of the most intractable diseases out there?

We train people for years to enter these professions for a reason.

But what about the guy who discovered continental drift? He was a weatherman. Geologists who had probably studied for years all of a sudden are beaten to a theory a simple weatherman has gotten?

There were many incidents out there where a simple person or a person of a different profession beat the guys trained to the profession at something

But still, the idea that a simple military man has discovered a cure we've trained people for and spent taxpayer money on... well it just sets off a high number on my bullfeathers detectorgraph

Thats only a "bright" side, if you hate blacks, and specially black muslims.

:vomit:

I could have expected such a reaction. "I don't like it, it must be racism."

Pathetic.

EDIT: just for the sake of argument:

No AIDS scenario: population boom continues, leading to mass famine and incredible poverty, as well as mass migration, wars and other bad things.

AIDS scenario:
AIDS kills the surplus thus slowing down the population boom.

What's more wrong?

An epidemic doesn't solve poverty in Africa. It made it worse, robs the country of its population, slow down growth, make countries dependent of western medicine/financial loans.

Also Aids isn't only confined to Africa. It's worldwide. Just thought I should hammer that into your head.

How about we just eliminate AIDS?
We should try and stop AIDS. Period. Don't let it spread in Africa as that will not help cure AIDS, just spread it. Now the countries that are TRYING to stop AIDS should try harder. Perhaps some egotastical dictator might say they have the cure and attack the other country because their "cure" is wrong. That'd be a funny scenario to see

Always look on the bright side: AIDS will prevent overpopulation in certain African countries.

Ehh... no. This is a common misunderstanding.

The birthrate in a country decreases pretty much only when there is economic growth (or war obviously, but that's another matter). Having so many people infected with AIDS, economic growth is hold back in many places.

Overpopulation is worse. Population increase is good when you also have a decent economic growth. That's not the case of African countries.

Their population grows faster than their wealth, which means the limited wealth has to be distributed among increasing number of people.

Even small children know that if you divide a pie between 8 people, they get less than when you divide it only between 3 people.

The problem is we give them medicine, which makes the lives of the AIDS patients longer and allow the disease to spread. If we did nothing, the problem wouldn't be so big.

On the other hand, it isn't such widespread outside Africa. In some African countries, AIDS is a real problem, since abouth a fifth of their population is infected. In the developed countries, AIDS is present, but not widespread.

Just thought I should throw the hammer back at you.

What economic growth? There is no real economic growth that would meet the needs of growing population. It wasn't there even before AIDS first appeared, so you can't blame AIDS for their lack of economic competence.

Growing population is the problem of Africa. It is actually a huge problem, both economic and humanitarian. Since they're obviously unable to use contraception and limit it by the less inhuman ways, mother nature needs to use the time-proven way - disease.

If AIDS kills off a part of the surplus, it will give them time to adjust.

Oh yeah, you would not like it at all if a bunch of black muslims died would you?

I never said it was racism, I think the reason you like to see them they is that theyre muslim, not because theyre black, mostly at least.

So its not really racism, as it is idiocy (AKA empirical evidence bwhahum), and that really is pathetic. ;)
