I was thinking the same - well, pizza is even shown on the image.
Apart from pizza, and pasta, what has Ιtalian cuisine ever done for us? ^^
(or the romans for that matter)

I was interested in the others. The UK loving curry is obvious. One country in the caucuses like Iranian food and one Russian. Is that Azerbaijan and Georgia? And is that Luxembourg that is mostly into Portuguese food?

Azer for iranian and Armenia for russian ^^

If it isn't primarily about fast food, is Germany/Austria really into turkish cuisine?

I looked up the flag in the Netherlands, it is Suriname (dutch Gyuana).

The map can be broadly summarized as "people eat a lot of pizza"
Is it really 'Italian cuisine' if it's Americanised beyond recognition?

With >3 million Turkish and <1 million Italian folks in Germany, it would hardly be surprising if the Donerladen outnumbered the pizza-joints.

The town I live in (pop. ~75,000) has at least 20 kebab-shops, but only 17 pizza-shops/Italian restaurants (that Google knows of) -- and some of the kebab-shops also sell pizza, so the latter number likely includes some double-counts.

we do not care for Santa Claus but American cultural hegemony says it is the North Pole . All the kids might say it is up there , the cultural elite will say otherwise . Orthodox Christians know the actual guy was one of their saints before Coca Cola stole him and dressed him as a clown . And Demre, Antalya by the Med is most definitely not the North Pole . Yugoslavs , them former ones , probably will refuse to like us forever and Bulgarians no doubt started claiming that they had removed the grave and whatnot in nation building period in the Ottoman times . The Spanish case is the odd one , should look up for that .

edit: Three Wise Men who brought gifts for baby Jesus ... who came from the East and Persia was the East .

In greek orthodoxy, the person is St. Basil, who was head of the local church at Caesaria - that's on the edges of Cappadocia.
Basil was important for the early christian church; so early that he studied in an academy at Athens.

Huh, turns out Lapland isn't "general" location for most? Weird :old:
Also - finally New Zealand is where it should be :satan:

ı know some of these maps are jokes , like the one in post # 675 . Would say the people don't have a clue , but that would lead to years of claims that ı had an affair with an Irish woman . The US Naval Intelligence might support that considering that they are now at war or something and might need people to talk and to this end it has to be proven that am not 100% anti-Western or whatever . No , ı didn't .

on the other hand if this is real as in published by some "Authority" , it readily ignores the racism Europeans claim to exist in this country . 18 to 25 years do not find Kenyans most attractive . Quite a number of them wouldn't be able to show it on the map and Somalis are around in higher numbers with much higher visibility . But then it can also be a new number to show Turks do not match Europeans in anyways .

This was an old image saved in my gallery. Thought of posting it when I was looking over my old images.

Yes, I remember now that some people in the Twitter comments claimed that it was a joke due to the Turkey-Kenya part. I think so too. Eurostat is an actual agency of the European Union, but whether this map was actually made by them is a good question. I'll look it up.

(Would be a very weird statistic for a EU agency to record, if true)
