I remember I started a project on making natural African borders. I'm going to dig it up!

I should try to finish it one day...

And no, I don't know what I started to do in Ethiopia... I think the thicker line may be the original Ethiopian border?

They are mostly ethnic and linguistic boundaries I believe. When done IIRC I was planning on making borders much more rigid, and divide up the Sahara more proper-ish, maybe even get rid of that huge Taureg state smack in the middle of the Sahara...

Natural as in "based on natural barriers", or based solely on the present-day distribution of various ethnic groups?

Pre-European ethnic groups, with post-European population exchanges kept in mind. For example, I intended on a white Cape of Good Hope based state.

I had a whole process for determining borders written down somewhere. Maybe on my old computer. I'll have to find it, maybe it will be a March Break project.

Libya is Ginormous! No but seriously, I started a similar map a while back but it was south working it's way up, maybe we could pool are maps together and finish it.
