Fox News 'terror expert' says everyone in Birmingham is a Muslim

An American "terrorism expert" on the right-wing Fox News channel has declared that Birmingham is "a totally Muslim" city "where non-Muslims just simply don't go".

Steve Emerson made the claim, which may come as a surprise to the hundreds of thousands of non-Muslim residents of Britain's second-largest city, during a television discussion about no-go zones in Europe where Muslims are apparently in complete control.

"In Britain, it's not just no-go zones, there are actual cities like Birmingham that are totally Muslim where non-Muslims just simply don't go in," he said.

Mr Emerson, who describes himself as "an internationally recognised expert on terrorism", did not stop there.

"Parts of London, there are actually Muslim religious police that actually beat and actually wound seriously anyone who doesn't dress according to Muslim, religious Muslim attire," he proclaimed, without giving examples.

He described Birmingham as one of a number of European cities "where sharia courts were set up, where Muslim density is very intense, where the police don't go in, and where it's basically a separate country almost, a country within a country."

Mr Emerson is a regular contributor to Fox News and was appearing on Judge Pirro, a show hosted by the failed Republican politician Jeanine Pirro.

Ms Pirro responded to her guest's claim that the British government doesn't "exercise any sovereignty" in Birmingham by saying: "You know what it sounds like to me, Steve? It sounds like a caliphate within a particular country."

Birmingham's one million plus population is actually 57% white and 26% Asian, 8% black and 4% mixed race.
In the 2011 census, only 21% of the population identified themselves as muslim.

Facts have a liberal bias.

Just when I thought they couldn't get more ridiculous

Oh I just posted the video in Commodore's thread. It's utterly hilarious.

He's apologised though: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-30773297 . I thought it was a nice apology, but really he's apologising to the wrong people, for the wrong thing.

For the record, Birmingham is a terrible city that you should never enter.

Apology for 'Muslim Birmingham' Fox News claim

Mr Emerson's comments about Birmingham and London led to many reacting on hashtag #FoxNewsFacts.

Some accused him on his investigative website of "speaking nonsense" and called his claims "utter rubbish".

Birmingham Edgbaston MP Gisela Stuart called the comments "stupid" with "no redeeming features".

"I checked whether this was some kind of early April Fool spoof, and then I thought he was talking about Birmingham, Alabama, but then I realised he was just utterly and completely wrong," the Labour MP said.

https://twitter.com/hashtag/foxnewsfacts <<< Some of these are funny as hell.

I would just like to take the opportunity to remind our friends around the world that, according to the Pew Research Center, more than 315 million Americans do not watch Fox News.

Well I live in Bradford which is loads of Muslims. The only terrorism here is from all the white people - The National Front, BNP, EDL.

Those whiteys, all terrorists.

I heard the weather in Birmingham changes between sunni and shiite.

It in itself would be funny to me if it had been an incredible stupid but simple mistake. But in fact it was some guy posing as some kind of *expert* or *journalist* or *talking head* or whatever bogus label they got these days on Fox News for a some guy dude talking out of his ass so to cater to the commercial strategy of Fox News, talking himself so far into a frenzy of half-baked hate-mongering that he actually said something so clearly factually wrong that even his primitive viewer ship could not be assumed to remain oblivious of it.
Just watch the whole video as referred to by Mise and posted in the thread he referred to. The whole video is nothing but two people acting a play in a surreal parallel world where their is actual news. The only thing that distinguishes the Burningham-piece is that the mere numbers make them look as utter fools, whereas the rest of their verbal guttery requires not much but a bit of explanation and distinction to see as just the same.

America truly managed to have a news network which specialized on bull crap. Not literally, of course. But as close to literal as you can get in a purely metaphorical sense.
That is the dream, I suppose. To turn crap into gold.

This talk about no-go zones and separate muslim states in the heart of Europe is disgusting. It has no factual basis at all and in fact can not even be based on a misinterpretation (since how could you possible misinterprete Birmingham's demographics). It is just populist fear and terror talk no better than the propaganda of ISIL/ISIS/IS. Opportunists like this guy are the reason that the muslim population is estimated about three times as high (by Europeans) than it's actual value - there is a chart in Daily Graphs and Charts which indicates that Hungarians estimate 7% of their country is Muslim, while in fact only 0,1% is.

These kind of people, and the ones who are the puppet masters behind the scenes, are as much a threat to our democracy as propagandists of the other end of the spectrum. Sowing discord isn't improving anyone's lives.

No go zones are a reality - due to white flight, and some white people simply refusing to go near the places where minorites live. However the reasons of 'cos all Dem are terrowists' is false, its just that these select people are too xenophobic to want to be anywhere near them.

It also depends who you are. I frequently visit Brussels, and there are certain quarters which are nearly entirely black/Arab. I've never felt threatened or uncomfortable there, but some of my female colleagues have in fact been mugged. As a result, others now tend to avoid passing through alone.

Then again, there are similar quarters in Tallinn. Except that those aren't black or Arab, but mostly Russian. And I bet there were bad neighborhoods in Brussels back when the city had much less minorities too.

Indeed. Army garrison towns used to have sizeable 'no-go-areas' for soldiers, because as soon as you station a few thousand paratroopers in a town it becomes a rite of passage for every local hard case to try and pick a fight with one. I don't think religion has anything to do with people being unpleasant to each other.
