KIEV:

He tells how he was beaten by Maidanists and how he tried to protect his wife and another woman which were beaten too. They ask where were policemen. The other man says that Maidan has shown its true face now: it's not a peaceful protest. Woman tells how a bandit threatened to kill her. Everybody asks where the police is. A man says Maidanists are the authority now so they feel their impunity and there is mayhem. He says the bandits attacked them in an organized way.

December. She is indignant with Western intervention. She says authorities must establish order at any cost, that those from the Western Ukraine must go back to Lvov and ruin their own city, they those who want to Europe and do not like Ukraine should migrate there and wash toilets because that's all they are useful for. She says that Saakashvili has f*ck up his country and now advises Ukrainians on how to f*cked up their country. She tells that there's practically no food nor warm beds where they stay, while Maidanists have all the comforts – who pays for it she wonders.

That gentleman looks a bit special. In a short bus kinda way.

He is old and has no teeth.

Both funny and sad that people bought that fascist crap... though I wonder how technologically advanced the Crimean region is (real question not rhetorical).

If those guys love Russia so much and hate the Ukraine (evidenced by the flag switching) then maybe they should move to Russia.

UPA (УПА, Ukrainian Insurgent Army) militants dispel and beat Anti-Maidanists. A woman says, "Cowards! Shame on you". An UPA boy replies, "Shame is in the Russia, you biatch!". Next he says something like "You're Russian, you're from Russia", she replies "You are more Muscovite than me", he says, "What you're f*ckingly dare to say there?". Someone says "Turn off the camera now, biatch!". Etc.

A convoy of Anti-Maidan activists from Kharkov being captured by Maidan extrimists.

In the second part of the video the activists tell the reporter how it happened: the attackers were in masks, with baseball bats (with metal on it), a pistol (pointed at the people), a grenade, a tourist axe, an entrenching tool, etc., also they mention Union Jack and journalists (Free Media™ probably) among the attackers.

LUGANSK:

A video here: http://tv.mk.ru/video/6161-ukraina-raskol-kak-lugansk-zaschischayut-ot-maydana.html

"We feed them [Western Ukrainians], we have jobs, all people here have jobs: mines, factories... And then some strange dudes come here and tell us "Ukraine blah-blah-blah, cordon off the city, but keep your money flowing to our region, please". Woman, "We are here to protect our families, our children are back home, there's no one but us who will protect them"

If this happened in Russia, let's say Daegestan or Chechnya, or any of the other break-away provinces these people would have been brutally killed.

Let's not pretend the Russian government is any better morally or otherwise, than these fascists.

TRANSCARPATIA:

The man tells the journalist what they do is protecting their home city and their home region, if there's something to change there it is them to decide not the people from other regions who came there. She asks how do they know there are people from other regions. He replies that they identify them by accent and other details. They are against the slogans "Hail, Ukraine! Hail, Heroes!" (used by Maidanists). They tell they are not used to such slogans in their region, that there are a lot of ethnicities, about a hundred. They are against Yugoslavian scenario. They do not like the reporter, they criticize her for censorship and for that the media is loyal to the West.

Oh, please keep inventing excuses and slander Russians, keep ignoring common people of Ukraine and justify Neo-Nazis!

The more you do it in the West, the sweetier the victory here. Truth will prevail. And Ukraine and Russia will be much closer, because people in both countries are slowly torn out from their comfy environment with many post-Soviet illusions and now see the reality for what it is: West does not stop whether there are commies here, monarchy or democracy, this president or that one, united or separated we are.

KIEV:

December. Anti-Maidanists and Maidanists squabble.

Anti-Maidanist man says, "What, do you really think they need you [EU]? No they do not need you. They will take Ukraine and you will become slaves here, yes slaves. You think you won't be?". Maidanist, "And who are you? You are slave". Anti-Maidanist, "I don't work for them. I work for myself. I am responsible for my own life.". Another Anti-Maidanist guy, "They say they want Europe". The first Anti-Maidanist, "Then build Europe here. Do not crawl to where they do not want you". Maidanist, "It is Maidan here. / They [government] do not let us". Anti-Maidanist, "They do not let you, huh? It's just that you are not used to any work". Woman, "Buy some vaseline, so that it would be easier to enter Europe". Anti-Maidanist, "Go work on the fields [farming]". Etc.

Anti-Maidanist, "Europe wants to take Ukraine to get to Russia". Maidanist, "And what does Russia want?". Anti-Maidanist, "It wants our grandfathers, who fought for your life and freedom, not to be forgotten". Maidanist, "Those are not the grandfathers who fought for us". Anti-Maidanist, "Who then? Those who worked for Nazis, yeah?" Etc.

Back to 23 February.

"...some of you may have a smarphone in your pocket with an Internet connection. Upload it to social networks, to vk.com, to Odnoklassniki.ru, to Facebook. Kharkov does not surrender to Fascists, to Bandera. We will defend our home city. Please, we need informational support so that the more people in the city knew that they are not alone. That people like them are gathering here, on this square, to defend the city. Because the mass media censors everything. Take pictures of everything and everyone around so that the whole Ukraine saw what is happening here."

My comment here: mass media shows these same people calling them Maidanists (not Anti-Maidan which they really are).

How far out of the realm of possibility is the integration of parts or all of Ukraine into Russia if this continues?

Russia is far more capitalist than Europe lol.

Many people in Russia, traditionally in Crimea and now other parts of Ukraine dream of reunification. However, it seems too unrealistic. IMO, either common people will be able to form a force all over the country and confront the extremists from the Western regions, then the state will disintegrate into two parts. Or new authorities will be formed from mostly old and ex-officials and opposition, backed by the West, and they will somehow ensure their status, then the situation will repeat itself in a few years (as it has been happening since the dissolution of Soviet Union with less or more intensity). Or this kind of light civil war will continue for months, infrastructure will go bad, people will start to starve, and they will become more and more compliant to the foreign interference and the decisions of oligarchs.

One of the major goals here for the Western countries is clearly to put Ukraine into unbearable debts.

LUGANSK:

At first she's nervous and inconsistent trying to introduce herself. She is mother of three children from Krasny Luch, her husband is a miner. She appeals to people telling them they must not let happen here what happened in Kiev. She says she has a lot of answered questions: "Why the authorities of so-called opposition let it happen in Kiev? Why? Why our boys, Berkuts have to fall like a meat under these so-called peaceful Maidanists? Why? Why our authorities let it happen?" (people approve) "I demand from our authorities to stop spending money on the Western regions! It is time to build our home here, on our land, in Lugansk oblast, Kharkov oblast, etc. It is time to have our own budgets! Not a peny to this mob [from the Western regions]! Let us stop feeding them! ... (people shouting "remove the provocator" at the interrupting drunk man) When he goes away, she appeals to the locals who will come to Kharkov tomorrow: "Residents of Krasny Luch demand to raise the topic of federalizatin up to full separation of the Southeast!" (people applauding) "We demand to form comissions which will ask Russian Federation to help us, and those 15 billions which they want to give to the whole Ukraine they should give us, the Southeast, to develop our regional oblasts! Stop feeding those [Western regions]! We do not want those Americans, Poles, etc to tell our children how we must live! Stop it!" (people shouting "attagirl!") "People, Lugansk oblast, raise! Show them all, you exist! Stop be mute, I urge you!"

The best way to subvert a region is to massacre its people and replace it with your own cultural stock. Then you can legitimately call it self-determination when they seek union with the mother country.

Did i justify neo-nazis? (Whom i hate) Did i slander Russians? Did i invent excuses?

You'll find i did no such thing. I said that a Russian equivalent would have been dealt with in a much more aggressive manner.

Nothing is more satisfying that ex post facto Russian whining about their latest foreign policy disaster.

1) Russia applies pressure to Ukraine not to sign the association agreement with the EU.

Q: Why? The treaty was not exclusive and wasn't harming Russian economic or trade interests in Ukraine.
A: Because Kremlin does not want a strong, economically successful AND democratic Ukraine that looks to the West instead of obediently waiting for instructions from Moscow. More generally, European Ukraine on the border with Russia would send a clear signal to the Russian opposition that it's time to end Putinism and follow suit. Economic interests are secondary, this is a matter of long term survival for the Russian autocratic regime - Ukraine is too big and too similar to Russia, i.e. potentially too dangerous as an example that there IS an alternative to Putin's post-soviet autocracy.

2) Russia urges Yanukovych and his government to use force against peaceful protesters. As a result, the crisis escalates into violence, then more violence, and eventually massacres in the streets.

3) The regime falls apart, Yanukovych is deposed, and Russia is looking for ways how to further destabilize the new regime, whilst toying with the idea of annexing the Russian-majority provinces.

4) Russia whines about being treated unfairly.

...

:lmao:

My advice: grow the eff up.

I think he is talking about the Holodomor and the Russianisation of much of eastern Ukraine.

I think he thinks he is as well. Problem is, he isn't. Holodomor such as it is imagined by Ukrainian nationalists (and they are pretty much the only ones who support the interpretation any more) didn't happen*, and the Russian population in the Eastern portions has always been there. The Russians in Crimea were settled there after a deportation of the Crimean Tatars, but most of the Tatars returned afterward, and Crimea was part of the RSFSR at the time anyway, it was only gifted to the UkSSR many years later.

*Yes, a famine happened there. But it was part of a larger famine in other parts of the USSR, which actually killed more Russians than it did Ukrainians. There was nothing which specifically singled out Ukraine or Ukrainians during the famine.

And, as we discussed in the other Maidan thread, the Soviets maintained a policy of korenizatsiya, or regional cultural autonomy for ethnicies, which specifically precluded the possibility of "Russianization" of any place except the RSFSR. If anything, the Russians living in Ukraine would have become Ukrainified, which is probably why the vast majority of them today still regard themselves as Ukrainians, even if they are ethnic Russians. Or, at least they did until a couple of weeks ago. How they feel now, with all this madness going on, much of which targets them, is anyone's guess. However, I will note that before Maidan, the "return us to Russian rule" crowd, while very loud, was not very influential in those parts.

Why do pro-Russian arguments always sprinkle in liberal doses of belligerent homophobia? I mean, it's easier to be sympathetic to parties who don't make "Boy do I hate 'dem queers, and Europe sure is full of queers" a key stone of their platform. I mean, of all the people to randomly hate because of power imbalances, language differences, pigmentation differences, man the worst of them all is teh gays.

Edit: I'm referring to the signs and sloganeering, not you. Thank you for the time to create the thread. It's interesting.
