Are you sure you still have the same address? Have you confirmed this from somewhere/one else? Because your own address appears as the same number to everyone, IIRC (can't remember the number, but my friend once got a script kiddie to hack themselves by giving "their own" IP addy to them)

Yeah I'm very sure. I'm an admin on 2 forums. I just went to the users online list and my IP is the same as always. Also I checked from start->run

So if all the mods, other users, 'Poly admins, and evidences would in a hypothetical scenario prove that this is a prank, would you not believe because TF didn't post it?

I would be 50/50 if the admin of the other site came on and said it. But I would still await TF's post.

Well Mirc, remember, where there's a will, there's a hack.

As the owner of russian Civ4all (www.civ4all.110mb.com) - I’m very glad about new Civ Community))

I was gonna start one last night..., but I thought I'de wait to see if this was a hoax first:ar15:

I find it funny how no serious long time polytubbies have taken a serious stand.

I guess we'll see who's the smarter bunch :p

I welcome our CFC brothers to a glass of a good 'ole cherryade :)

The official mod protest site is down. TF didn't post any re-assurance that this is true. It was started on April 1st. Not all mods are in this, actually except those that said that are quitting they never assured us that this is true, good, etc. Turner said goodbye and asked to be taken out of position, yet he is still a mod. If I get to see him without the mod banner below his avvie, I'll probably believe. ;)
Excuse me, but that was not the gist of my point as quoted. My point was that Thunderfall visited CPC and was cordial and explanatory during his visit. It does not follow that he would then turn around and sue SuperSlug for slander or libel. From what I saw of the discourse (I cannot say I read every thread) nothing particularly harsh was said against ainwood either. Fortunately, fellow NESer Birdjaguar was prduent enough to copy TF's remarks at CPC earlier in this thread. He is neither angry nor anything but polite and informative. That either he or someone else would seek a suit--and could produce one in the middle of the night / morning so rapidly--is to me unlikely to say the least.

I don't know. I have 3 computers. All with the same IP. And I assure you I turned off and on my router a number of times, and still have the same IP. I'm not that great with networking stuff. :) BTW I'll try to turn off my router (though I did it before) and see if I have the same IP.

Edit: Tested. I still have the same IP. And wherever I tried this, my IP didn't change. I don't know.

Are you saying your PC has the same IP, or that the physical port on the router facing your ISP has the same IP?

Consider this: When you first set up your Internet account, did your provider send you a package with an IP address in it and with instructions stating "configure your router port facing us with this static IP, and this subnet mask"? If they did, then yes, you have a static IP assigned to you.

If however, like my ISP did, you got instructions saying "ensure the router port facing us is configured to particpate in DHCP", then you could get any IP in the subnet your ISP has allocated for your street, or city block, or bunch of city blocks. You could, in theory, get the same dynamic IP address assigned to your router, but depending on how often peoples' routers enter and leave the subnet, it is less likely you will get the same one.

Sorry for all the technical jargon, but I work for a rather large company (think 3 letters) designing WAN and LAN computer networks, and this lingo is the best way to describe stuff.

Ainwood said something about losing his job, and needing the money to feed his family. That's a nice touch, ain't it.

Time for shameless self promotion...

SEEK REFUGE IN SILVERS CIVLLIZATION FOURMS!!!

NO!

If this merge is true, the refugees must form a one, great forum, the Son of CFC. Not tons of mini-forums.

I have received a PM from Turner. This prank is not a prank. The lawsuit is real. Once it gets resolved, CPC will open up, since Slug gave the other mods admin access.
