It was actually proposed to be "Ultimate Civilization Center" with "Ultimate" from apolyton and "center" from CFC. Or another idea was "Ultimate Civ Fanatics". I think that "Ultimate Civilization" just like that, was never an option.
 
Yay. I have finally caught up reading! Surely this thread has broken some sort of 'fastest growing thread' or similar record.

If I could draw one enduring message from the (fun) chaos of the last two days - it would be that a hell of a lot of people seriously consider this their home, and that we should all thank Thunderfall for being generous enough to host it. I dread to think that it might ever die.

I have to say this: this was one of the greatest Internet pranks ever. Very fun to observe, and I really loved the level of coordination involved. Turner "quitting" really made me worry, for one thing; should've known better, really.

I agree that you should really try and do something like that again one day. The way it shook up both communities might have some interesting long-term consequences, and it certainly encouraged people to explore both the opposite community and this very forum. Two cases in point: AAHZ migrating here (although that too may be a follow-up prank of sorts ;) ) and all those people running around in the NES forum. Chaos is both fun and conductive to an online community's health! :p
 
Congratulations to everyone involved in this prank. :goodjob: It was a shame that I did not have the chance to join in the fun, but I was too busy yesterday actually civving. I knew it was a joke when no one could properly answer my questipn about the ISDG and how things were going to be solved by having two teams in the ISDG Semi's and possibly in the final since both teams are still alive. Another give away was the fact that you could not register for the site. But overall it was an excellent joke, considering how many people fell for it. It is a shame that it had to over shadow my prank in OT. :mad:

QFT! However those that decided to migrate to 'Poly from CFC have gotton less-than-friendly reactions from the OTF there... But that is what 'Poly is infamous for anyway. I have been registered there since 2004, and have been an active user in their OTF as well as Civ forums...

and they STILL dont treat me with very much respect. The community is so tight knit... that it will be next to imposible to squeeze anybody new through their hardened shell... :yup:

No not exactly, there was this other forum, a troll started insulting random people in a single thread, and that thread in 3 hours turned from 3 pages to about 60 pages... Everytime you'd reply, there'd be about 6 replies above your's.
 
I can point you to a few....hundred thousand post threads on Gaia Online. I think there might have even been a few million post threads.

Heh, we've got people registered and active since 1999, whom we don't treat with respect :p

We're nasty by default and you have to win our love every day anew ;)

Obvoiusly you see people's real feelings when someone needs actual help or support. For this, poly is one of the greatest places on the web :goodjob:

'Poly will always have a place in my heart and i could never just abandon it wholeheartedly. it is well known that i DO have a bad temper, and i over-react to situations quickly... for this i apoligize to you, and to all of 'Poly, sir. However, i have also met some new friends over HERE that i will not abandon wholeheartedly either... :D
