I too applaud the hoax. From the first time I saw the announcement, I smelled a hoax. My first thought was "Oh come ON! We're not THAT gullible!"

The mods in an uproar, controversy over paying for features and mod paychecks , CPC, it gave me second thoughts. The whole day I was back and forth between hoax. One minute I thought "This feels so synthetic..." and the next it was "VIVA LA RESISTANCE!"

...although perhaps I did enjoy the chaos and adding to it even when I felt it was a hoax

NESing is a boatload of fun here, very vibrant community. We backed up a bunch of our games (even finished ones) and were ready to move wholly to CPC if CivJunction didn't give us a forum

Indeed I was too busy yesterday reloading Gates' Windows. I visited the CPC a few times but didn't read the threads. I do hope superslug doesn't delete that forum too quick so I could take a good look at CPC to see what the "rebels" were up to.

Would it be possible for CFC to archive the posts at CPC? It was a lot of fun and it can honestly be considered a part of CFC's history. I know next year and beyond people will still be talking about it and it would be nice to be able to access it for some good laughs.

Anyone who thought it was funny either didn't want it to happen or was in love with or afraid of Thunderfall so they didn't say anything. I WANTED the merge to happen! The only reason I'm staying at the CFC is because it and Apolyton are the only English, vBulliten-powered forums about Civ. How could you do this, TF? You'll regret joining Frapper-Map.

I didn't much care for it. I've been part of far too many online communities that imploded because of mergers to find it terribly funny.

But I wasn't outraged or anything - just sad.

Am glad it was a joke - cause it would have meant the end of CFC.
