At the risk of sounding cynical, it's no tremendous surprise that an echo of these qualities should find their way into the discourse; one could even argue that it would be an act of hypocrisy do deny them. You don't like violence, develop a critique of politics as such. All us ultra-left weirdos the cool kids are doing it.
