Ask A Bulgarian

Yours and other people's. A weekly dosis is recommended.

Well, I believe this noble thread deserves a reboot. And eventually, at some point, you'll have a lecture on how Bulgarian language as I and seven other million people know it as came it to be.

Until then, ask away!

No, but plenty of people visit Halkidiki (yes, I've butchered it, most likely) during summer because it's cheap.

How do you eat your yougurt?

Does Bulgarian yogurt have any unique characteristics or methods of preparation that differ from elsewhere?

Do Bulgarian tween girls dig Justin Bieber?

With a spoon, no sugar. Best if it's very thick and not very watery.

Well, theoretically, the Bulgarian yogurt is THE yogurt, the rest being unfortunate imitations. It is made by putting in some yogurt in hot milk, then wrapping it up in a towel and waiting a week or so.

Alternatively, gather a laboratory of food scientists and give them unlimited work budget. This is the only explanation I can give you for the yogurt on the supermarkets.

He's getting beat by Chris Brown.

For Great Justice, I have no objections-u. In fact, I urge you with great urgence.

Well, it's [wiki]el:Χαλκιδική[/wiki], so in Cyrillic it should be Халкидики, which would transliterate as Halkidiki, so, yeah.

I… know some people who would dispute that.

well , my mother keeps the towel on maybe for 6 hours , maybe 8 and it's quite the thing . She does that to 4 kilos or liters of milk like twice a week .

though ı have been real hurt by the TV shows that daily announce sugar in yoğurt is bad for your health . Me having eaten with sugar for like 40 years ...

ı never said ı was real or a man , did ı ?

I must say I like yoghurt a great deal. Never with sugar though.

Raita goes very well with curry, I find. But other than that I eat my yoghurt "as is". Very occasionally with some chopped fresh fruit.

Or, you could do like generations of Bulgarians have done: get yoghurt, pour some water into it, then stir the yoghurt with a spoon. Afterwards, cut some cucumbers in it.

It's called tarator and it's godly.

Yoghurt's rightful place is over lamb roasted with onions and peppers and served on grape leaves.

I hate that stuff. Here it has a nasty (and turkish, but not nasty due to that, it just sounds horrible) name. Called 'tzatziki' :vomit:

But regular (ie not that pitiful dressing) yogurt is ok, although i never particularly liked it and almost never eat it by now. I am not much of a milk-product eater. Maybe the occasional white cheese.

I was gonna send you a PM, but then I figured asking here would make more sense.

Anyways, so I want to ask, basically, what do Bulgarians tend to look like? I'm not talking about the genetics or anything like that per se, just the physical appearance. That is, in your opinion, do Bulgarians on average to look like Greeks, or other Slavic groups in the region, or what?

The reason I'm asking is I'm considering doing a Bulgarian portrait set in my CKII mod. Currently, I'm thinking of basing the Bulgarians on the newest Greek portraits. Here are some samples, if you haven't seen them:

Would these work for Bulgarians (I'm more concerned about the basic facial features - I can always mix and match with other types of hair/beards and clothing)? Or would you say the Russian portraits are a better fit?

No, the default portrait wouldn't do it justice. Too dark.

It'd be best if you make a mix: use Greek clothes but base the faces closer to Russians. Mind giving me a sample of Russian portraits?
