Well I suppose it could have been considered ownage if someone had provided an example of something I'd done myself that ran contrary to something I'd stated, but... you know... pointing out the number of cultural events that are celebrated in American kind of has no bearing whatsoever on anything I said, so I'll have to politely disagree with you on that one. It was kind of like:
Person A: I don't like it when X happens.
Person B: Oh yeah? Well here's a load of other examples of X happening.

I like how, in your recollection, Person A was the sober, rational, straight-faced grown up, and not someone who literally just compared making a national holiday of Mao's birthday to a high-school prom.

Walmart has been open on Thanksgiving for years, if not decades. The issue is starting the black Friday deals on Thanksgiving, encouraging the hordes of shoppers to go there on thanksgiving, rather than with family.
Though in most cases the deals don't start until most people would be done with their family visiting anyways.

The STEAM sales have started!
So many cheap games.
I used to go crazy over the Steam sales, but now that I have a backlog of 230 games (and I only play a handful of them), I'm not too hyped. With that being said, I'm hoping a few games get 75% off sales.
Right now I'm looking out for Republic Commando, Resident Evil 4, the Quake series and the Unreal series.

Yes it was my fault that you asked me to imagine that all the schools near you suddenly started having the children sing the Chinese national anthem in morning assembly each day, and that Chairman Mao's birthday was suddenly being touted as a new public holiday. Sorry, I should have ignored what you actually said and imagined that you were making a reasonable, well thought out comparison instead.

I have around 250 games on my backlog as well, if not more.. but when I sit down at my computer and look to a game to play, sometimes nothing jumps to mind. So obviously I have to buy more games.

On what grounds can you possibly sue private enterprise in this situation?
I suspect the lawsuit was unrelated to the situation, and the suggestion to take the deposition on Thanksgiving day was just to make a point about the Black Friday nonsense in passing.
Since the employees at most of these stores are working under very employer friendly contracts lawsuits over changing work conditions are pretty much not an option.

Hey, Americans. I've recently seen footage of Black Friday, and let me say: this is unreal. Is it really happening, or there a mall décor somewhere in the back of the media studios, where they pick hobos and dress them up, then for several beers make them go insane and fight and pretend, all in the name of headlines and views?
Based on the number of relatives giddily calling me from Wal-Mart last evening, I'd say it's real. 
50 inch TV's for $200 sigh.

The bright side is that, in Bulgaria, Black Friday is less popular. It's more like Scam Friday, really; lying about prices/promotions is a traditional suite for any self-respecting trader 'round these corners, but it escalates during this nice and pleasant day.
