Whats the problem it would just take a few years with captured illegal invaders to dig and you get a free canal or money for nothing.

A tunnel under water a mile wide would be possible in the Rockies where there is solid rock but I do not know how long it would take to dig as the other bank is so far away. The gun boats would get the boats and you could put in sharks as suggested which would stop a lot from taking a ride across the river. The canal would stop all the road running looking for the illegal invaders and I do not think many would get to ride across the river. If they did get across it is likely they would be spotted and so soon southbound again.

The patrol boats would be manned by the navy and marines to provide competition but not to much since they are brothers in arms. I am sure that some boats would only take a single handed sailor to man them and they could cover a long section of the border rather than driving up and down the long road. It would also reduce the chance of private investigations by groups such as the minutemen so they would no longer be in the news.

Or you can consider that no Americans want to be killed by drug violence, just as none want to have there car stolen. But some Americans want to take drugs, just as some Americans want to steal cars.

Just as we need locks for cars because some Americans want to steal cars, we need gigantic walls that will significantly disrupt the economy but are only partially effective against catapults because some Americans want to take drugs. Clearly, the solution is to change the culture so no Americans want to steal cars or take drugs.

But making it more difficult to get drugs will only increase drug related crime and violence as they become harder to afford and of lower quality and increasing profits for the cartels due to higher prices.

Well the teaparty is getting rid of all consitutional addmendments added on prior to the creation of the the USA.

Because the security provide by locks on cars is comparable to a security provided by a twenty foot fence, neither will stop all illegal activity. But both will stop a significant amount for relatively low cost.
