Whilst the immigrants do benefit enormously they aren't my responsibility. I'm thinking about whats best for the British people.

For every one highly skilled immigrant who emigrates to the UK, some middle / low income country in the developing world has now a harder job of catching up with the most advanced nations. For example, a Nigerian doctor who trained in his home country and than takes his first job in the UK. We reap all his benefits, whilst Nigeria eat up the costs of training him.

If Western nations didn't poach so many brains in the third world in the past 50 years, these countries may be in a far more prosperous state.

That's fine, but you need to present that as part of your initial argument.

If you are limiting the discussion to how Britain or the British people benefit from multiculturalism, I would suggest that the altruism extended to immigrants in Britain is its own reward. That immigrants benefit from multiculturalism is beneficial to the British people because the British people, as do most people, want other people to be happy as well.

Altruism alone may not be a complete justification of the policy, but is part of it.

A lot of immigrants send money home to support their families. To say that Nigeria does not receive any benefit is inaccurate. Which is not at all a justification or excuse for brain drain; I'm just mentioning it as a fact.

There's never been a shortage of Uncle Toms. Although, I confess I've seldom come across anyone who would support a cause so utterly antithetical to their own survival.

Anyway, Quackers clearly knows what the benefits are. He'd rather leave Britain free of foreign influences, even if that means that he is personally worse off. He's basically willing to pay money out of his own pocket to prevent foreigners coming into this country. I'm not going to call him racist, because there are plenty of other words to describe someone who would willingly make themselves poorer for the sake of some weird idea of national purity or something.

Frankly, that's a poor argument, beacuse anti-immigration advocates are not interested in the economic benefits of migrants. It's especially problematic when such arguments are toated by people who otherwise do not have strongly capitalistic views. Also, multiculturalism != pro-immigration.

A better place to start would first to negate the presented negative views of multiculturalism.

It isn't anything to do with "national purity" or anything. I've already stated in this thread that a 90% - 10% split is workable. When we have many ethnic groups competing for resources and political power; where we have no dominant group the country will be prone to instability, conflict and such. We are risking all that for a few measly benefits.
