Can an American please answer a question?

This is all just ridiculous partisanship. Conservatives are using racism to generate hot button voters for themselves.

Is that right?

Over 85% of Alabama and Mississippi Republicans Think Obama Is or Could Be A Muslim

Obama Muslim Rumors Persist Among Illinois Republicans: 39 Percent Believe President Is Muslim

Poll: 46% of GOP thinks Obama's Muslim

Many of those who think they need to take the federal law into their own hands under Obama, when they had no such desire at all to do so under GWB, think Obama is a Muslim. And I bet a surprising number also think he is a socialist.

The stereotypes about ignorant Americans that many Europeans believe is based on numerous such facts.

Those articles are from a few years back. Besides, "not sure" doesn't mean that they think he's a Muslim.

It seems that illegal immigration is becoming more of a hot button topic this year than it has in the past (what with elections and all). Consequently, a lot of politicians, both local and federal, have been making noise about what they want to do to deal with the issue.

This raises an issue of logic in my mind. Immigration seems like a federal issue, period. After all, we are talking about the laws that determine who may or may not enter the country, not individual states. If states are allowed to make their own immigration laws, does that not potentially infringe on every Americans right to free movement throughout the country? I don't think I would like the idea of having to carry my passport every time I decided to take a roadtrip to the next state over (if I lived in the US, that is).

Anyway, it seems illogical for anyone to insist that immigration laws be decided locally. Defending and defining the country's border is a federal matter, by definition, isn't it?

Federal officials have failed to enforce the laws that Congress put on the books......this has been going on for decades and decades. This patronizing approach is quite less tolerable now that the economy has been destroyed than it was when it boomed.

A huge segment of the population correctly believe that the scope of illegal immigration has hurt the middle class. People are angry at the government for not doing what it said it would, not enforcing the laws. In fact, its clear now that the government, both the left and the establishment GOP never intended to do more than pay lip service to the issue.

So people are angry, not at illegals per se, but at the politicians.

Illegals are immune for the time being, no worries, Romney, if he wins, will not do anything on the issue. The only relevence the issue has is how much Obama can exploit it for votes.

The thing we are going to hear down the line is that it isn't much of a problem anymore, since our economy is so bad that none are crossing the border, so forget it, except to do amnesty.

And this is what will happen. The border will only be guarded if and when someone sneaks a pocket nuke in and pops it in Houston.

My answer for my state is that we should develop nuclear weapons. It is the only thing Washington respects.

It would restore the balance of power to the level the Constitution intended.

Actually, the one about voters in Alabama and Mississippi was from less than four months ago, and the Huff Post article was from this year as well. Do you really think things have changed all that much?

Only 14% of Alabama Republicans and 12% of the Mississippians knew for certain what is the obvious truth about Obama's religious beliefs. What does that tell you about the average intellect and level of education of Republicans in those two states, much less the rest of the country where a large number are as equally confused?

Obama's policies regarding undocumented immigrants aren't all that much different than GWB, and deportations are actually much higher under his administration. Are you actually trying to claim this isn't the typical partisan nonsense we have come to expect from the Republicans since the Muslim Kenyan socialist was elected?

That's all fine and dandy, but laws are laws. Your government was designed a certain way, and if you don't like the people running the show vote for someone better.

Back in the 1980's Detroit was getting their butts kicked by the Japanese in the auto sector. Additionally, Japan was engaged in aggressive trade practices which disadvantaged American import autos. Would Michigan have been right to impose harsh tariffs on Japanese cars to try to even the playing field? Even if the rest of the country was operating under different laws?

@ Formy
Are you trying to brain wash people into believing this Muslim Kenyan?

@ Puck

Michigan might have been better off today if it had of.

Ignorance is not the same thing as intelligence.

Ignorance is not the same thing as intelligence.

There is no ignorance in thinking that Obama is a Kenyan or Muslim. Ignorance implies a lack of knowledge that can be remedied. The truth is in their faces, and they refuse it. That is either stupidity or willful lying to themselves.

There is ignorance in being "unsure".

If they are "unsure", it is not because they haven't had factual information forced into their face 100 times. It is because they are such miserable excuses for human beings that they refuse to accept the facts because it conflicts with their prejudices. So you cannot make the argument that ignorance is a part of the problem.

Either they are bigots, or they are mentally defective.

It takes far more than ignorance to think that Obama isn't a Christian.

Indeed.

How much "ignorance" does it take to willfully overlook the facts when someone is staring right at them?

You mean besides the fact that he is known to have attended various Christian churches much of his life? That he has repeatedly stated he is a Christian?

How do I know you are one?

If going to church and saying you are one is the only indication, we can all be christians. I am not sure that I have ever claimed to be one.
