i saw in the NSA thread some people talking about how some pretty bad people have ended up with their face on U.S. currency. so, i thought i'd start a thread where we could decide who gets there face on which coin/bill. that way, the people who deserve the honor get it, and goons and morons stay off our money!

for reference here's who's on U.S. currency right now:

penny: Abraham Lincoln
nickel: Thomas Jefferson
dime: FDR
quarter: George Washington
50 cent coin: JFK
$1 dollar coin: Sacegewea
dollar bill: Washington
2 dollar bill: Jefferson
5 dollar bill: Lincoln
10 dollar bill: Alexander Hamilton
20 dollar bill: Andrew Jackson
50 dollar bill: Ulysses S. Grant
100 dollar bill: Benjamin Franklin

if i left out any money, please tell me and i'll add to the list.

plus, based on what people say in the thread, i'll revise the above list to match what us CFCers think who should be on the money. :)

I find it deeply offensive that only white males, and no men and women of color are on our currency:mischief:

Gandhi should be on our currency. ;)

The only current objectionable one is Andrew Jackson. All the rest aren't particularly bad or good.

Yeah, and I guess, it doesn't bother me much, because I think it makes AJ roll over in his grave. :)

Given Grants record as president, I suppose, I'd reconsider him.

We hardly use the $.50 piece.

Mass transit systems. That's how I've gotten all of mine. I believe that they stopped minting Sacagawea coins this year, however.

Also, yay for my ancestor on the $10,000 bill. :D Whatever you do, don't ditch him. (I don't care that the $10,000 bill isn't printed any more.)

You could still walk in to a store and use a $100,000 dollar bill (you'd be a fool to do so). The last $2 bill was printed in 2003.

No you couldn't. It's a federal crime to own a $100,000 bill

Yeah, but they're still in active circulation. You can go to any bank and get some. They don't print more because banks don't want more. If banks started wanting more they'ed probobly print more.

Then you have crappy entreprenuers where you live.

The last 3 jobs I've worked the vendors all used them in the change machines. It actually is a very good use for them.
