Civ4 Beyond the Sword Patch v3.17 is out

Not beyond a shadow of a doubt, no; but I don't see why it wouldn't have been, since I did install there. Also, I changed it manually before at least one of my installs.

Now it does seem to work after just moving the installation to the right location.

I've got slow net, so I want to ask.

Is patch 3.13 is necessary to install patch 3.17?

Im patching from the original BTS release (3.0)
How long should the patching progress take?
And how will I know when the patching progress is complete?

The first step is downloading the patch. It won't tell you any progress until it's complete. Next it runs the patch (EXE) to patch the actual files. This will take only a few minutes, and I believe it will look like a normal install program. This is if you do it through the game which I did not.

Alternatively, and I and others recommend this option, you can download the patch from one of the posts in this thread and run it yourself. It will download much faster, and it's the same file they send you through the auto-update feature.

Oh thanks. Ori told me the in-game wasn't working and directed me to a mirror or something. It just finished downloading and I just don't know if I have to extract it somewhere or the game is patched without any extraction.

Place it in C:\Documents and Settings\[Your Name]\My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\Patch
and execute it.

It's probably not necessary to place it in that spot before execution, but it's a nice organised place to keep your patches.

When I download the patch on the new computer with Vista it gives me an unspecified error right before it completes extracting the zip file.

Anybody else had that problem?

If you downloaded an EXE, double-click it to patch your game. If you installed a ZIP, unzip it to get the EXE inside and then double-click that. It should walk you through a multi-screen install dialog IIRC.

You've brought the pizza home. Now it's time to eat it. ;)

"CRC failed... The file is corrupt."
Did it not work?
This happened when I extracted it to Patch.

Emperor. I don't know exactly what you said =p, but maybe you can decipher this.
Civ4BTS_Patch_v317.zip - ZIP archive, unpacked size 177,087,435 bytes
Civ4_Patch_v317.exe
I don't know if that is a EXE or how to unzip.
When I double click the Civ4_Patch_v317.exe, it extracts, then a WinRAR: Diagnostic Message pops up and says "Can not Execute"I called up Civ4 but it still wasn't patched.
I want the dang pizza!!!!

I am very confused and this is getting frustrating.

I did it! Took me four hours... but I did it!
Thanks Ori, EmperorFool, and Roland Johansen.

BTW Emperor, the pizza is GREAT. :goodjob:

I downloaded the zip file, but for some reason when I try to extract it I get an error right at the end.

I suppose I could just download 3.17 in an .exe format if it's out there. I'm assuming it's linked on here somewhere?

I literally just had the same problem. Here's what I did:
-Went here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=9800
-After I clicked download, I went clicked on the US3 (US 1 & 2 didn’t work).
-Once it loaded, I double clicked the file (wasn’t a file icon. Underneath a file that said “...”)

But the problem for me was that I had to be on the Administrator Account. So I repeated the process and it worked.

Hopefully this helped you as much as everyone helped me.

I guess that the download must have been corrupted. Maybe your connection to the internet is not entirely stable?

As you asked for a download site with a direct .exe format download, I followed the six links that civfanatics has for the patch. 3 of them are a direct .exe download:
Fileshack
Worthplaying
Filefront

Good luck.

Thanks man, I'll try that.

I got it working on the old desktop, but that thing is a relic. I guess I've been badmouting vista all day for no reason.

When I tried to open a save of a HOF-3.17.001 game, the game exited; just minutes before, the same went just fine, and I've never had such a problem before.

Now BtS won't open any HOF-save anymore. No error message, no log is generated. If I click a file, nothing happens at all. If I try and open such a save from within BtS, my PC freezes and I have to reboot.

Reinstalling everything made no difference.

Any ideas?
