There is no confirmation about Win98 or ME. Mind you, Civ4 wasn't officially supported on Win98 either, but if it runs, it runs. Unless there's an official statement, you'll have to wait and see. I pray to God that those aren't all the techs in the game for the first few eras. Also, currency in the medieval era? I'm pretty sure the Romans, Greeks, and plenty of other classical civilizations had currency centuries before the medieval period...

Yea, currency should be a classical tech. Dunno if Bite messed up or if it's a Firaxis mistake.
