[NFP] Civilization VI: Possible New Civilizations Thread

Aren't they just going to rework Teddy and CdM, especially since DLC 2 is likely focused on espionage.

I asked and Ed said about it and this was his response : "Both variants of each leader are available once the Persona Pack is installed. Catherine can't hide her evil, conniving side that easily!"

So we're getting the old Teddy alongside the new Teddy as an alt.

The Civ that requires R&F can be a civ that has a unique governor.

They can? I have never ever had this happen, and just yesterday I was modding some files and noticed she has a particular variable in the files which is specifically supposed to prevent this. I have no idea if it works, of course...
It works fine in the setup screen logic at least.

"Q: Can you rule out a third expansion for Civ VI?

A: At this time we don’t have any plans to build a third expansion."

That is not at all "there will be no third expansion". That being said, I don't see why the current logic of "it would bloat the game" would change later, so I think we are not getting a third expansion. But this doesn't prevent them from doing another season pass like this one when there are some civs people are still clamoring for by the end!
I agree with this analysis, a proper expansion seems extremely unlikely given the announcements of today. Too bad, since poor and boring late-game gameplay is probably the #1 mentioned thing that people dislike about the game in the other thread.

We don't know enough about these 'modes' (which I think are mechanics that you can turn on and off) to suggest that the late game wont change.

Everything depends on first season pack sales.

Didn't they mention that the Apocalypse Mod actually provides some serious bad-ass events when the Climate Change reaches it's highest level?

Nope. It's a new model, a new agenda, and a new leader ability, but the same leader name. It's more of an alt-personality than an alt-leader.

I dunno I did't imagine it as brand new model, more like reskin, new clothes and stuff, I meant that. Though yes, perhaps it's hard to see current Teddy as Rough Rider. Though undert hose circumstances, it might be the same needless sink of resources like alt leaders are considered by some.

Just to clarify things. Would we be able to play the first of the 6 dlc’s on may 21th?
And what do you guys think will happen in terms of announcements leading up to it.
New civ this weak on wednesday/thursday. And another one next week (tuesday) with possibly a hour dev stream on wednesday.
Could be as early as tomorrow for the first one, but otherwise, yes, seems a very likely schedule.

Hey! Someone rehired the dancing bananas!
Shhhh - they don't have proper PPE yet :shifty:, but they were wondering about, looking in desperate need of a workout .... :hide:

Maybe once we understand their unique non-Indo-European language more better, and have more info on their rulers, then Etruria will be added to the game. I don't want their leader to speak Classical Latin. They probably have more chance than the Olmecs, the Harappans or the Minoans. :D
The Minoans at least have a leader, UU, and infrastructure they could go off of. Well maybe at least in a Mythology spinoff (King Minos, Minotaur and Labyrinth).

I'm predicting that reworked Teddy will feature the same base agenda+the environmentalist agenda added.

The Ottomans came with Gathering Storm, yet didn't demand you already owned Rise and Fall, I think? So no I don't think that would work.

I think the only mechanic that the Gathering Storm civs didn't use was Era Score and Golden/Dark Ages, so maybe it could be that?

It works fine in the setup screen logic at least.

Yeah, and I've never seen a problem in-game either.

I still maintain that it is impossible to fix the boredom experienced in the late game as long as Civ is a race game, and thus is about snowball. Don't care how many mechanics they add to spice it up; at the end of the day, you won based on what you did in the early game and now need to click next turn a bunch. If a lategame mechanic mattered that much then it would negate the point of the early game. The only way to have each era's mechanics shine is to have doing well during a particular part of the game be useful by itself, without it having to result in you winning the whole game faster.

Everything depends on first season pack sales.

Or on them doing another survey toward the end. People could choose to buy the pack now yet by the end of it not be interested in another one.

Maybe, but I don't see a lot of design space there. I think it's far more likely it's an alternate Mongolian leader. If it's Kublai, Mandukhai, Ogodei, hell, even Timur or Batu, I'd love it nonetheless!

Don’t know if anybody in this thread has speculated this yet, but if the release date is May21,I believe we will get(yet again) two videos introducing us to the civilizations. If they stick to the format of GS,these videos will drop on Tuesday’s,with a livestream on Thursday/Friday.We only have two tuesdays left before release,so I would say we can expect a video tomorrow about Gran Colombia/Maya mechanics .My guess is about Gran Colombia as it seems their unique improvement was already visible in the trailer.

If the leader really requires Rise and Fall, this means it must be an alternate for a R+F civ,as everything else from R+F was also included in GS.

A few thoughts on this.

1) - I will be interested to know how much they will price the individual DLCs at. Will there be a discount with the season pass? I suppose one drawback of getting the pass is if you decide you are not interested in a new game mode, then they already have your money
2) - I wonder how much they will change the plan as they go along. Whether they have done most of the work already and will drip feed the DLCs out or whether they will make changes based on initial feedback.
3) - I am hoping that they will use the extra development cycle to improve and revisit some of the earlier content as they did with the pantheons. In particular, I hope they look at the "3 best and 3 worst things" thread and see if they can tweak some of the things that players find to be their least favourite. My personal 3 tweaks I am most hoping for are: allow breaking of friendships/alliances due to bad behaviour; letting warmonger civs worry less about grievances; getting the AI to invest less in competitions unless they are going for diplo victory
