[NFP] Civilization VI: Possible New Civilizations Thread

On the topic of the DLL & maybe grasping at straws, I still see some positive development from the old "we have not made a decision yet" ...
In the Interview with Anton Strenger (https://www.pcgamesn.com/civilization-vi/civ-6-new-season-pass-details): "At this time we don’t have plans to release the DLL source code."

I interpret that as a decision was made to not release the DLL source code during the new-season-pass, ie. not until next March.
I wish I could interpret it that way, that would mean just another break for me, not a retirement, but the change of phrasing does look like a decision has been made, and that decision is to not release it, unless there are new elements to consider.

And who can make them reconsider except us, customers and content providers ?

Now I'm in a way thankful for Anton's honest answer, no need to silently* wait in hope for another year, as it's now "not planned".

I can wait, but vocalizing louder** this time, or I can go elsewhere. I know I would miss the other modding tools of civ6, OldWorld already has it's source code released while still in EA for example, but I don't know if the assets are accessible.

*ok, maybe not really silently

** yes I can be louder

Sumeria seems to represent the "Warmongering" side of Mesopotamia (Gilgy can be modded into an Assyrian king lol). Assyria is often depicted in this manner as well in comparison to "Scientific" Babylon. I'm betting on Babylon to make a comeback.

Pre-Indo European dominated Europe must have been so interesting.....a shame most of those languages were never recorded down.

How about a Sri Lankan Civ led by Parakramabahu or Lilavati? :D Or maybe Ireland led by Brian Boru.... Nazca and Olmec I can't see being in Civ due to the voiced leaders/lack of writing or decipherment.

The Sumerian units in Civ 4 spoke Sumerian so I was shocked at first that Gilgy spoke Akkadian in Civ 6 instead. I was also disappointed by Mansa Musa only speaking in Arabic (and not switching between a Mande language like Bambara).

Aksumite era Ethiopia is definitely underrated. I'm hoping for a leader who is not Haile Selassie for Ethiopia. Not too fond of more 20th century Civ leaders.

Burma seems unlikely, either due to similarities between Khmer, or even the recent Rohingya crisis. A Romanian Civ is more likely than a Dacian one. I would love a pre-Spanish leader for the Philippines, but a later one is more likely, plus similarities with Indonesia.

I loved hearing the dialogue of the Manchu unit in Age of Empires 3. It sounded so different from Mandarin Chinese. Also note how some Chinese consider Goguryeo to be a Chinese kingdom, simply because they ruled lands in present day NE China. My dad wasn't even aware that China hasn't ruled all of its present territory for its entire existence lol.

Illyrian Civ doesn't seem likely in my book, due to the lack of info on their languages. Although they can make Teuta speak modern Albanian.....:lol:
some real good points, i would love babylon and indeed gilga speaking akadian is a mistake i noticed and that is really sad for civ becourse mostly they are right on the point with these things. like say zuidwal vulcano in dutch empire a real dormant vulcano miles deep hidden under the waddensea national park

How about a Sri Lankan Civ led by Parakramabahu or Lilavati? :D
Honestly I would love this so much (I'm half Sri Lankan!) but can't realistically see it ahead of Vietnam, if they're adding a new Asian Civ.

Well with no First Look today, that will lower chances for Devs live stream ... and I would really love to have one, and specially for the first DLC to clarify some thing and introduce all balancing updates and other smaller things.

Aside from this, how likely will it be that the development-team will do a series of let's play/deep dives streams like the ones with R&F and GS? I'm not that familiar with streaming services, is it possible to host something while working in separated places and keeping a good quality? (I did like the announcement video the team made from their home btw. )
I don't know how complicated a Livestream would be technically with everyone working from home, so I think the chances of one are low for this release, but hopefully they'll be able to do one for the free game update in June (don't know the details of Maryland's plans to open things up).

I am now convinced that modularity is part of the fundamental vision for this game and that Firaxis will aim to remove all the aspects in the game that feel rigid and repetitive. With that in mind, here's what I speculate:

- Pool of Great People, so that the combination of Great People in any given game is different every time;
- Pool of new Eurekas and Inspirations: each Tech and Civic is given one or two new boost triggers, so that the combination is different every single game;
- Wider selection of Age dedications and bonuses;
- Improved Pantheons and Religious Traits
, to allow for real choices rather than having a bunch of slots that are never picked;
- More Governors and tweaked bonuses for some of the existing ones. At least one new governor. PLEASE AT LEAST ONE!
- Strat Resources will no longer BS all over your beautifully planned city. You'll be able to build Districts on top;
- Reworked Unit Promotion trees, permitting even greater specialisation;
- Wider selection of Espionage missions.
- Wider selection of World Congress decisions and Emergencies.

My pet wishes:
- A pillage-able Wonders mode which causes Wonders to be pillage-able by disasters and foreign archaeologists and/or great generals.
- A blind research mode, a la Alpha Centauri (or make tech/civ triggers hidden).

but the change of phrasing does look like a decision has been made, and that decision is to not release it, unless there are new elements to consider.
I would say, "the decision is to not release it [some of the DLL sources] as long as they can sell DLCs on a bimonthly base, unless there are new elements to consider." - ie. as long as players are willing to buy; so it is objectively difficult to say when.

In the video Amanda Bonacorso spoke this text: "This year-long schedule for Civilization VI gives us a chance to see how you're playing the game ... ... and make adjustments from there."
The edited subtitles contained here additionally "We'll be asking for your feedback. What did you like?", but neither her nor following Dennis Shirk said that.

I'm curious, how that feedback will function, a survey?

I think this is the point where I bring up again that I'm sad that Tibet can never be an option
Is this still set in stone though? Especially as an individual DLC, Tibet should be possible to add with some courage. It would be such a worthwhile addition!
Tibet has been playable in EU4 and CK2 for years, and they are sold in China as well. Tibet even has a mission in EU4 called "End the Chinese Threat," which needs them to go even farther into China than the historical Empire did and take over the mandate of heaven. If that's no problem for the censorship...

#6 has a new map, it could be North America, but as the DLC includes new World Wonders I dont think that area is the case. I bet it will be a Portugal DLC and the map is of Africa, that the Portuguese navigated and planted their Feitorias in.
That's an interesting take on it but I would honestly expect if we were going to get a map of Africa that it would come with an "African" Civ, and not the first European nation to sail around and colonize it. Since Ethiopia appears to be the only one we are getting I don't think its likely.
We don't have an Americas map so I'm hoping that an Americas Map comes with the last pack with either the Navajo, Tllinglit or Iroquois etc.
I agree about the Map for Pack 3 but I' I'm hoping it also might include the Mediterranean as well, at least the eastern part. One will be either Assyria or Babylon while the other Byzantines or Italy.

A pillage-able Wonders mode which causes Wonders to be pillage-able by disasters and foreign archaeologists and/or great generals.
It looks like Wonders are at pillaged least by forest fires in the apocalypse mode/maybe base game now according to the screenshots.

Eh, the wonders look same as if they were hit by a nuke. Also engulfed in fire, but there is no charred model or anything suggesting a pillage.
