pre-release info Civilization VII - Content Spreadsheet Thread - Civ overview!

pre-release info
Well, you're a civ fanatic and history geek. Clearly not the representative for broad audience (and, probably, will buy all DLCs regardless of their content anyway).
That's kind of my point. The general audience will be lined up for every civ and leader they remember from middle school history (the overwhelming majority of whom are European); we're the weird ones over here asking for Elam and Hurria and Srivijaya and Sogdia and Muisca and Tlingit. :p

Honestly, I don't know, whether those civs will be a selling point, providing we'll already have modern Britain, France and Germany. I doubt those exploration civs would bring significant value for broad audience.
I’d like to have England and the Franks for a better transition to the British and French. Even though they aren’t high on my priority list, it would still be nice to have them at some point.

This is part of me wanting the civs to get more coherent transitions in the future, but I know that won't be the case for some of them.

So the obvious things from the of the age 2 stream are Mexico confirmed, Isabella, an Inca? (Lake civ) tease and a few independent powers

Inca? (Lake civ) tease
I don't see any connection between Inca and lakes. It would be a good design for the Aztecs, though we're already pretty sure they're not in the base game. I kind of feel like that was a throwaway line, but it would be interesting to see it followed up on in the future.

One may hope Carl said that in the sense of "this cool design we had for the Aztecs but did not make the cut into vanilla because it was too rule-bending"

From which we can rule out Tonga (Nukuleka as a village, associated with "Tongan" on a tooltip).
And the Hyksos.
For now, I'm still rewatching the video.

[Edit] Gordium -> Phrygians?
Good observation. I think that makes Tonga unlikely for the first DLC packs. Although it seems relatively easy to replace IPs in 7. Yet, why bother with a Tonga IP if they would be added within the first year?

Granada was on Spain's city list in Civ6 at launch and removed for the city-state in the first DLC. I don't think it rules anything out.

I think Tonga will be coming soon because Oceania is one of the few regions without any representation in Antiquity, and they put a lot of effort into representing each region with only 10 civilizations.

Alright what are the new today.
- Leader Isabella was revealed;
- We got confirmation that Mexico is in the game and that Spain's wonder is El Escorial, both icons of Spain and Ming where shown, lastly the Hale o Keawe as indentified (likely the Hawaiian wonder);
- We got several Indepedent Powers this time: Hyksos, Olmec (confirmed), Phrygia (Gordium), Tonga (Nukuleka), Jurchen (Shangjing), Lithuania (Vilnius) and Umayyad (Damascus) are the ones I identify. As you can see by the names, we have big history players as IP's too, which I approve, but white on white for IP's when you are suzerain of... It's an UI choice indeed, hope they change that.

PS.: If anyone manages to understand what is this one with blured name that appeared only for a few frames would really helpful

Thanks for this i really appreciate it.
First thought is for any european modern civ, the only logical choice is Rome->Norman->Modern European country?

I can't believe you forgot the (in)famous Lake Titicaca. :mischief:
But in all seriousness Buganda could be a lake civ, considering their relationship with Lake Victoria. I except them to get some sort of War Canoe unit.

Well, there is also Greece->Normans->Modern European country.

But yeah, options for Modern European countries are getting thin. There is one unrevealed unlock slot for Normans and maybe Mongols can unlock Russia. Anything else would be too far fetched, even by Civ 7 standards. So out of Britain and Germany/Prussia we are getting at most one. Maybe not even one, if the unlock slot for Normans is actually Americans (in which case we would have one completely open wildcard slot for a surprise civ). This means, there is a good chance of Russia being in, otherwise we also would have an open wildcard slot.

There's not enough information in the image to get the name, the text is white on white and partially blurred. Only thing you can see is some partial letters:

My best guess is Ryazan from the partial letters, but I think it's one letter too long for the available space.
How about Kyzyl?

More evidence for Hawaii: instead of the expected Abbasid icon, the Abbasid soundtrack video accidentally used a symbol that appears in the centre of the coat of arms of Hawaii, as well as on two unofficial Hawaiian flags:
Spoiler Hawaii :

I'm just reading this spreadsheet. When was Inca confirmed? I dont see any other South American civs in the antiquity and presumed they were trying to maintain the same number of civs per continent (with west and east asia counting separately).

More evidence for Hawaii:

If Hawaii is in the game that blows my continental balance theory out of the water already. But still why do you guys think Inca is in the game?
