pre-release info Civilization VII - Content Spreadsheet Thread - Civ overview!

pre-release info
Reading through lots of post here trying to check out if it`s really true; is Sweden reduced to a "minor civ"? We`re talking about the most powerful civ in middleage Europe. Yeah I see we have Hawaii, as a major civ..

And a "exploration-age" without the Norwegians, the real explorers? Neither Swedes or Danes were seafarers even if they had ca the same boats.

I know the game will grow but for now..:hmm:
In both Civ 5 and Civ 6 city-states were routinely elevated to full civ status. Being a Independent People at launch is not an obstacle.

Other empires even greater than Sweden are featured as IPs: Ottomans, Babylon, Assyria and Byzantines. This is not to diminish their historical importance, it's to give them representation in the game until they are officially included as playable Civilizations. This is how city-states worked in Civ6.

Sheesh, look at these huge areas with no representation. Clearly the current approach to who gets included is myopic, at best.

I would laugh if there's a McMurdo Ice Station Independent People in the Modern Age

who knows.png

Found this in a Korean video. The transliteration is Tongcheong, it's in Antiquity.

kasos.png

喀斯 (Kāsī) is the Chinese transliteration of Kasos. Exploration age.

Kasos in Exploration huh? Who could it be specifically?

Yeah, there's some suspicious "holes" in the map considering IP's, all of non-Andine South America, the Artic and Siberia, Congo Basin and Kalahari Desert... Also no major Chinese dynasties showed up yet... Maybe it's just a luck problem that they didn't spawn in any review we got?

If we are talking about the Greek island maybe of the Knights Hospitaller?
The only other reasonable choices would be Venice or the Ottomans, but they are already in.

Are we sure it has to be the island of Kasos? That "Kasi" can't be Kashi, i.e., Varanasi?

Or a greek city that was captured by a CS?

They said it's in the Exploration Age, so it couldn't have been Greek. The Kingdom of Kashi would probably be Antiquity too.

Settlements unless you change the capital keep their names so it could have been a Greek > [Exploration Age civ] settlement.

It isn't a captured city, it has the mercantile icon the UI, but yes the translation may be off too

The Kasos Island in the Mediterranean Sea is more likely to written in form of “卡索斯” instead of “喀斯”. I would like to say that it’s a translation of the place name “Cass”, which refers to multiple different places, and I suggest that it’s either the Fort Cass for Cherokee people or Cass County, MO for Dhegilha people.

I sure hope it's not Fort Cass for Exploration Cherokee, that was an American embassy to them that was later transformed into an internment camp, far from their own settlement. A Modern Age New Echota would be infinitely preferable; I really don't hope that the Shawnee Age precedent will extend to all Native IPs...
