A little piece of a BBC article.

That doesn't mean the Trump team is giving up, of course. It's holding alternative electoral college proceedings with an alternate set of votes that will declare the president the real winner. They'll continue with futile court challenges and, eventually, ask Congress to overturn the election results.

And we do know that. At this point his raging and promising eventual victory is more about image and keeping him in the limelight than it is about keeping him in the White House into February. And fantasies notwithstanding, the one thing he's going to make certain about is that his departure from the White House is on his terms, or at least in a way that he can frame to be on his terms.

William Barr: US attorney general to leave post by Christmas

US Attorney General William Barr is stepping down before Christmas, President Donald Trump has announced.

Mr Trump tweeted Mr Barr's resignation letter saying: "Our relationship has been a very good one, he has done an outstanding job!"

Mr Barr's term had been due to end on 20 January, when Mr Trump leaves office.

But an early departure had been predicted after he disputed Mr Trump's unsubstantiated election fraud claims.

Deputy Attorney General Jeff Rosen will serve as acting attorney general, Mr Trump said.

Proud Boys' party is over: Trump fans throw tantrums because they've lost more than an election | Salon.com

But on one Saturday night in Washington, fueled by alcohol and rage over Donald Trump's electoral defeat, the pretense that "Western chauvinism" is not a racist ideology collapsed. After hours of drinking and ginning themselves up, the Proud Boys stole Black Lives Matter flags and targeted counter-protesters who were gathered in Black Lives Matter Plaza. A group of Proud Boys dramatically lit a large Black Lives Matter flag on fire, while flashing the "OK" sign, which of late has been appropriated by racists as a "white power" symbol. Vandalism at two historically Black churches, Asbury United Methodist Church and Metropolitan A.M.E. Church, is being investigated as a hate crime. Four people were stabbed in altercations between the Proud Boys and counter-protesters.

I mean its not like the white nationalism was hiding, but I doubt this will convince other GOP supporters

Please Republicans come back to the fold and let's actually work together to make America live up to its ideals. Stop attacking your neighbors as if they are your enemy.
I'd echo the same statement towards Democrats. Until the Dems stops demonizing and scapegoating white straight males, they can go pound sand.

The same Democrats who are themselves mostly straight white men?

Please quote any Democrat demonizing or scapegoating white straight males

Well, by your own admission you're a Democrat. You're quoting GenMarshall in a way that makes him look bad and, worse, in the wrong here, so that's how you're scapegoating.

I, too, love to get very mad at things I just invented in my mind.

Trump campaign files last-ditch NM election lawsuit
SANTA FE — President Donald Trump’s legal effort to stop the 2020 election results from being finalized hit New Mexico on Monday, even as the state’s five Democratic presidential electors cast their votes for Joe Biden in a largely empty state Capitol.

Trump’s re-election campaign filed a 42-page lawsuit in federal court against Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver that primarily targets the state’s use of absentee ballot drop boxes. While it does not make any specific allegations of voting fraud or irregularities, the Trump campaign’s lawsuit specifically alleges the state’s top election official overstepped her legal authority by authorizing use of the ballot drop boxes this year amid the coronavirus pandemic. However, a spokesman for the Secretary of State’s Office called the lawsuit a “desperate attempt to undermine our lawful election in New Mexico” and predicted it would be swiftly dismissed. Secretary of State’s office spokesman Alex Curtas also pointed out a previous state GOP lawsuit targeted at absentee ballot drop boxes was withdrawn in October after two county clerks agreed to make changes.

“Though our office has not been served, this lawsuit appears to be yet another attempt by the outgoing Trump administration to silence the voices of lawful voters throughout the country,” Curtas said in a statement. Biden defeated Trump by a comfortable margin — about 11 percentage points — in New Mexico, marking the fourth consecutive election cycle in which a Democratic presidential candidate has won the state’s five electoral votes. The election results have already been certified by the State Canvassing Board, and the state’s five Democratic presidential electors officially cast their votes Monday for Biden.

Unlike in states like Michigan, no police escort was necessary for New Mexico’s presidential electors. They held their meeting without incident in a legislative committee room at the Roundhouse, which is currently closed to the general public due to the pandemic. Meanwhile, Trump’s campaign has also filed lawsuits contesting the election results and protocols in a number of other states — and has lost in nearly all of those court cases. Steve Pearce, the chairman of the Republican Party of New Mexico, which worked with the Trump campaign on the lawsuit, called Monday’s court filing “valid and necessary.” In addition, Pearce said the secretary of state’s actions had stained New Mexico’s election integrity.

The lawsuit was filed by Albuquerque attorney Mark Caruso — along with a Texas attorney — on behalf of Trump’s campaign. It seeks a court-ordered canvass of all state absentee ballots — though all New Mexico counties have already conducted a vote canvass — and an investigation of ballot drop boxes. In the meantime, the lawsuit seeks to bar the state’s presidential electors from taking part in the Electoral College next month and have the state Legislature appoint new presidential electors. Even if such an order were to be granted, however, both New Mexico’s House and Senate are controlled by Democrats and it’s all but certain lawmakers would appoint electors who would uphold the election results.

Under New Mexico law, it is a fourth-degree felony for designated electors to cast their ballot for anyone other than the presidential candidate who received the majority of the votes cast in the state.

Maybe the US shouldn't have a massive waiting period for the new president to be installed.
Anyway, is there even half a chance for anything Trump does to lead to something other than Biden being installed? If not, this is getting really stupid.

IIRC it is in the constitution and would take an amendment to change.

Getting America to live up to its ideals requires straight white males to own up to the reality of the current situation in which systemic suppression is the current tactic of one of the major parties running the nation. . . I'm sorry, the minority rule the GOP is pulling off right now is not sustainable and there will be a reckoning politically for it.

Also I refer you you to . . .

From November to January actually isn't that much. And you need time for recounts, transitions, making deals between the incoming administrations at all levels and branches. Of course, that is something planned out having a basic level of co-operation in mind. I.e. even the Republicans that had backed Sarah Palin in 2008 still actually acknowledged Barack Obama's electoral victory.

It's Deja Vu all over again!

President Donald Trump couldn’t make it any clearer: He needs his supporters to fork over cash for the all-important Georgia Senate runoff elections.

“We MUST defend Georgia from the Dems!” he wrote in one recent text message. “I need YOU to secure a WIN in Georgia,” he said in another. “Help us WIN both Senate races in Georgia & STOP Socialist Dems,” he pleaded a few days later.

Now, here's a game we're going to play. What do you think Trump will do with this money?
a) Use it to STOP Socialist Dems in Georgia
b) Use it to fund more court cases
or
c)
Spoiler :
There’s just one hitch: Trump’s new political machine is pocketing most of the dough — and the campaigns of the Georgia senators competing in the Jan. 5 races aren’t getting a cent.

It would take an amendment to change - and it has already been changed once by amendment. Prior to the 1930's (? pretty sure it changed with FDR), the inauguration wasn't until March.

I mean yes they do have a lot of logistical things to do which take time, but a huge chunk of those logistical things are either tied into the horribly complicated and dumb electoral college or else are spaced out simply because they always have been since the horse and carriage days even though we no longer need huge time intervals to allow news and people to travel.

Mentally adding "in disgrace" to every story about departing Trump minions
like "in bed" to fortune cookie messages.
