It's strange coming back here. I used to have another account on the site as a kid, back in the days of Civ3, connected to an email address I long lost access to. About 13 years ago I registered a new one, which I've hardly used since I hardly play Civilization anymore, and even when I play, it's not the social experience it once was.

I used to spend so much time in Off-Topic almost every day, and CivFanatics was essentially my first forum board, but most of the names I knew from back in the day — Heretic Cata, nonconformist and The Last Conformist, Rambuchan — seem to be inactive now (though I do see that people like thetrooper and Perfection are still around). Not to mention I doubt anybody remembers my childish ramblings from 20-odd years ago. Scratch that — I hope nobody does!

Recently I heard of the C7 project, and I decided to see whether I can help that project in any way, which is great and all, but I find it strange to just pop back into the discussion here in Off Topic. Nevertheless, I'll give it a try, but I figured I start here by introducing myself.

I have returned for a bit. I found myself yearning for the days of CFCOT with actual discussions instead of what Reddit and X have become, faceless one-liners and AI-generated slop for likes and upvotes.
 
Mostly playing No Man's Sky at the moment. I will wait for a sale to get CIV VII as I did with CIV VI (was actually a free $50 Ebay purchased and I had to register as second steam account due to mr "nothing suss" wanting my steam account for the key?!) I did end up buying it 2 times more from Humble Bundle.

Starting Wednesday, until the end of the month, I will be in Italy. Florence, Naples and Rome are on my agenda.

New here, looking for a new forum for some friends of mine from a recently closed messge board. The owner ran a server site, and kept the place running in spare space. The reason we were given is that there was a major security breach, and so the owner just pulled the plug.

Sounds like an amazing, have a blast! coincidentally one of my best friends and his wife are travelling to Rome and Florence next week. Not that you'll run into them or anything.

I am visiting some friends in a small town outside Toronto until Tuesday myself. Will probably not be active until I return.

There was another thread for this but i can't remember the name of it.
 
My sister is coming down with her fam, we are spending 4 days at a hotel, hanging out, i'm bringing a bunch of books cuase I predict that the sun will keep us indoors quite a bit.. Friday we're supposed to head to the beach but we'll see. Either way I will be gone until thursday at least
