Could it be happening?!

I gotta say, I haven't met too many people who are excited by Mittens.
I agree. The only person I know of who got even vaguely enthused about Mittens is VRWCA.

Mittens has such support not because of excitement for him personally, but because of how dreadful the republican field is looking.

I have this weird feeling that Americans, being fairly generous, could give Romney the presidency in 2016 if he runs and figures out how to stop gaffing.

He just rubs me as a massive snake oil salesman. I mean, they all do, but he can't even manage to hide it during the campaign with minders to the left of him and minders to the right.

Only if he makes a point of not hiring any of the advisers he hired last time. When you have no clear ideas of your own people have to look closely at who you listen to, and when you are totally surrounded by people who list their last employer as GWBush you develop a bit of a stench.

Especially since they realize they made a mistake by not giving him the victory in 2012.

It's almost like when someone's not directly involved in politics their approval ratings are significantly higher. *gasp*

If he actually tried to enter the theater again you'd see that number plummet as all the bad memories come rushing back, see Clinton, Hillary for a recent example.

I'd rather not see a plutocrat with his %47 statement on the ballot.

I'd rather not see a plutocrat with his %47 statement on the ballot.

That and a hundred other grotesque things he has said.

Those who are saying 'if he could run without the gaffes he might win' need to consider that the gaffes that sunk him last time can't really be unmade, even if he did manage to not make any more. The opposition is not going to just let him take a mulligan.

It's from 2012, but this thread needs this video:

"Does he have what it takes to pull off another humiliating defeat?"

Mitt Romney will run in 2016 and crush the opposition

It was exactly 34-years-ago today Republican presidential nominee Ronald Reagan launched his 1980 bid to replace President Jimmy Carter. In New York Harbor, with the Statue of Liberty in the background, Reagan gave an inspiring speech about freedom in what would be a campaign that ended in his landslide victory some 60-days later.

There are many pundits, frightened Democrats, even Mitt Romney himself, who scoff at the thought of him running a third time for president in 2016. But 34-years-ago today, it was the beginning of Ronald Reagan’s third try also. Last night in New York City, Mitt Romney could be heard in a roundtable radio discussion hosted by John Catsimatidis beginning his third attempt at the presidency.

President Mittens. Get used to saying it, folks, it's gonna happen!!

I see no reason to suppose he'll be any more successful this time. The Republicans are really two parties glued together though so it's pretty tough to imagine any of them winning. The whackjobs won't vote for a moderate and the moderates won't vote for a whackjob.

What was the last presidential candidate to lose a general election then run again? Reagan lost in primaries, a little different than losing the big dance.

Who cares? It's not as though it's some sort of rule.

And it isn't as though the Republicans have anyone else who can beat him in the primaries. He has all the money, and the GOP runs on money.

He has all the money, and the GOP runs on money.

That you don't immediately associate this with the Democratic Party apparatus just the same(or do you?) is a massive PR/spin victory.

I was wondering who would jump on that...yes, I do...never said I didn't.

However, it doesn't take the same kind of money it does in the GOP.

No Democratic party candidate would be stupid enough to hold a weekend retreat for the Forbes listed wealthiest hundred Americans to discuss 'how should I run for president and what can I do for you if I win'. All money aside that would be a sure fire campaign stopper in the Democratic party.

You spin me right round baby right round like a record baby right round right round. ;)
