Will the Northwestern United States be considered a rainforest? Or are we only doing tropical?

Tropical only I'd say.

Rainforests were proposed to correct the jungles in tropical places in the map that were unrealistically not doing their civs any good, but of course those around Washington, Oregon and BC are rainforests as well. So you could make the argument to have them there as well?

I think temperate broadleaf and conifer forests (ie: "forests tiles") might still better though, so it wouldn't be beneficial for the area.

Btw, Leo, I realize you want them to have different attributes, but how would they compare, forest and rainforest tiles, in the game?

Forests are very different from Rainforest, of course:
- can be removed with Bronze Working instead of Biology
- improvements remove Forests
- have +1 food +1 hammer
- removal gives production

While we're talking about forests here, there's 3 different types of forest tiles in-game... iirc the Orange-golden tree, Pine tree and Snowy pine tree. (Not familiar with Forestry here)

How about differentiating effects from each of them? Like the snowy pine tree give effect that benefit northern civilization like Russia, Canada.. maybe less health but more hammer or something. Just throwing ideas here

Nah, I'm fine with it just being an art difference.

I don't know why I've never spotted this, but Afrosiyab should be called Afrasiyab. Whatsmore, the city is only coded to change name when called Afrasiyab (or, at other times rather confusingly, 'Afrasiya' but never Afrosiyab) - in other words, it remains Afrosiyab for the whole game, never Samarkand (in 3000BC).

All I think that needs doing is changing Afro to Afra in barbs.py then putting 'b's on the end of any 'Afrasiya's in Citynamemanager.py.

New commit:
- extensive expansion of India to the south and rearrangement of its resources
- new arrangement of Indian cities in the 600 AD and 1700 AD scenarios
- India (Maratha Empire) and Tamils (Kingdom of Mysore) playable in 1700 AD
- Shivaji Bhosle renamed Shahuji
- extended Indochina to the east
- Saigon spawns in 1400 AD

Mysore's Mysuru needs some Islam at least, even if Mysore starts as Hindu in 1700 AD. Starting 1721 Hyder Ali and later his famous son Tipu Sultan were Muslims.

Great! :goodjob:
In 1700AD scenario Marathas control no core. Is this ok for their stability?
I would like to see portoguese Goa in 1700AD scenario, it was the last colony in India.
Personally I prefer Goa over Mysore, Marathas didn't take control of Mysore by force, so let them be absent from the 1700AD game.

Yes, I'll give the Marathas their own core. The Indian respawn situation has become more complicated so this isn't that easy.

In the current SVN, the tech penalty for tech leader is way too harsh:

Spoiler :

It's never been that much before - more than +150% beaker cost? Plus the penalty for Tech spread... it makes research nearly impossible until everyone catches up.

He's going to address technology soon. It is even more shocking that tech trees are often finished by 1900AD in 1700AD Marathon.

There's actually an error in the tech leader penalty calculation, fix comes with the next commit.

Stay tuned for more :D
